Farewell Year 12
This weekend is the final time our Year 12 students will represent Loreto Normanhurst in the sporting arena. We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every student who has had the privilege to put on the Loreto Normanhurst Sports Uniform. Your dedication, passion and enthusiasm has been inspirational and you have represented your school beautifully.
We wish you all the very best in your future sporting and fitness endeavors. #LetsGoLoreto
Hills Netball Finals
It was a very exciting day at Hills Netball last weekend with three Normo teams competing in grand finals. Loreto 9 had an extremely tough match against Beecroft, who had defeated our girls in all three matches this season. Fortunately, Loreto 9 had saved the best until last, defeating Beecroft 43-31 in a very dominant performance. Our other grand final was Loreto 13 taking on Loreto 14 for the silverware. The match was played in true Normo spirit and was an absolute pleasure to spectate. Well done to Loreto 13 who won the match 39-20. Congratulations to all students and coaches who competed in the grand finals last weekend and a big thank you to Ms Watkins and Mrs Woods for coming to support the girls.
IGSSA Netball Finals
Saturday 15 September marked the point in the season where semi finals are played and grand final spots are up for grabs. Of the 13 teams competing in these matches, a total of nine are off to play in their respective IGSSA grand finals this weekend.
We would like to wish the following teams the very best of luck:
|LON 08||LON 13||LON 16|
|LON 11||LON 14||LON 20|
|LON 12||LON 15||LON 23|
Thank you to every student who participated in IGSSA Netball to make the 2018 season one of the most memorable and successful.
IGSSA hockey Finals
Best of luck to the Hockey Senior 1sts who will be playing their semi final match on Saturday morning and if they are victorious they will go on to play a grand final match later that morning. Good luck also to LON 4 who will be playing their grand final match on Saturday.
NSW All schools tri series netball
Congratulations to Sophie Dwyer (Year 11) and Charli Fidler (Year 9) who competed in the NSW All Schools Tri Series Netball competition and captained their respective teams. Sophie’s Open Team were runners-up, with Sophie being selected for the Merit Open Team. Charli’s U15 CIS team were victorious. Well done to both girls on these fantastic results.
Congratulations to Tatum Bird (Year 12), Jessica Drummond (Year 12) and Lauren Marshall (Year 12) who represented NSWCIS at the National Youth Championships on the Sunshine Coast last week. NSWCIS (coached by our own Tracey Elliott and captained by Tatum Bird) finished at a very respectable 9th position out of 17 state teams and associations all across Australia and New Zealand. Well done girls.
On Monday, our Year 8 Touch Football team travelled to North Parramatta to compete in the Year 7/8 NSW All Schools Touch Championships Regional Qualifier. The girls played some amazing touch footy all day but unfortunately fell just short in the grand final. The match finished at 2-2 in regular time which meant each team would drop a player off each minute until somebody scores. Both teams were down to three players when our opposition managed to get over the line. Our girls finished the day with a for and against of 34-4 in six games and should be extremely proud of their efforts. Thank you to Tracey Elliott for coaching the girls this term.
Best of luck to Yasmin Say (Year 9) who is competing in the Sydney International Badminton tournament today.
correct sport uniform
An important note regarding correct sport uniform for Saturday competition sport:
Students who are not dressed in the correct uniform for competition will not be allowed to play. In the case that a Loreto Sport Staff member is not present, your team coach will have the authority to remove a student from play and/or not allow a student to start play. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter. It is our expectation that you will be appropriately dressed and in uniform while representing Loreto Normanhurst. Please see your sport specific booklets for full details on what uniform is required for your sport.
