Wonderful news to follow up on from last week, with Hannah Cowap (Year 11) coxing her crew to a silver medal at the World Rowing Junior Championships in the Czech Republic last weekend. The Junior Women’s Coxed Four crew had to do it the hard way, qualifying via the repechage, but they were able to lift when it mattered, pushing the Italian crew all the way to come second in a time of 7:16.92 – well done Hannah! Read more about Hannah in the Loreto Sport Girl feature below.

In more great follow up news, we have a new National Champion! Alana Kavanagh (Year 9) was a member of the victorious Under 16’s NSW Hockey squad that won the School Sports Australia National Championships on the Gold Coast last Saturday. Alana and her team were able to turn around a pool defeat to Queensland with a gutsy 2-1 win vs the girls in maroon in what was a tremendously hard fought final. Way to go, Alana!

A huge congratulations to the 40 students who have been selected to represent Loreto Normanhurst at the IGSSA Athletics Carnival on Wednesday and Thursday next week. The squad have been busy tuning their performances at the Friday Night Athletics meets this term and are ready to go citius, altius, fortius! Further congratulations to Eliza Harvey (Year 12) , who has been named as the Captain of the 2018 Loreto Normanhurst IGSSA Athletics Squad. We know you’ll lead the girls tremendously Eliza!

Our shredders are at it again, with the State Snowsports Championships coming up next week. We’ve got two snowboarders in the mix with Dominique Rossell (Year 11) and Eliza Rossell (Year 8). Eva Payne (Year 11) will show her best aerial moves in the Moguls and in a first for Loreto Normanhurst, Dominique Rossell, Eva Payne and Emmaline Fountain (Year 11) will be teaming up to take on the Cross-Country Relay event. We wish all those girls the very best of luck!

correct sport uniform

An important note regarding correct sport uniform for Saturday competition sport:

Students who are not dressed in the correct uniform for competition will NOT be allowed to play. In the case that a Loreto Sport Staff member is not present, your team coach will have the authority to remove a student from play and/or not allow a student to start play. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter. It is our expectation that you will be appropriately dressed and in uniform while representing Loreto Normanhurst. Please see your sport specific booklets for full details on what uniform is required for your sport.
