Rugby 7’s

It was a sensational day out at Pymble for the inaugural round of the Pymble Invitational Rugby 7’s competition last Saturday. Seven Normo teams were in action and the standard of rugby was fantastic! Round 2 is at Macquarie University this weekend – I highly recommend heading down to watch from 1pm.

Big news from the Czech Republic overnight as Hannah Cowap (Year 11) coxed the Australian Junior Women’s Coxed Four crew to 2nd in her heat at the World Rowing Junior Championships. Her crew has progressed through to the repechage round and they will row tonight vs crews from Belarus, Germany, USA and the Czech Republic for a spot in the semifinals – good luck Hannah!

Last week, we had our fingers and toes crossed for Charli Fidler (Year 9), who was competing at the National Under 15’s Netball Championships – unfortunately, NSW came up just short in the final, going down 30-23 vs South Australia. It is still a huge achievement for Charli and her squad – well played, girls!

It feels a bit like déjà vu all over again – we have another student off competing at a national championship and we’re eagerly awaiting the result to see how she goes! Alana Kavanagh (Year 9) is currently competing for NSW on the Gold Coast at the National Under 16’s Hockey Championships – they face off against Western Australia today and a win should see them progress to the final on Saturday – best of luck, Alana!

Huge congrats to Chelsea Gleeson (Year 6) who has been selected into the CIS Softball Team and will be competing at the NSWPSSA Girls Softball Championships in Mudgee from 25th– 27th September. Play well, Chelsea! Read more about Chelsea in the Loreto Sports Girl feature below.

correct sport uniform

An important note regarding correct sport uniform for Saturday competition sport:

Students who are not dressed in the correct uniform for competition will NOT be allowed to play. In the case that a Loreto Sport Staff member is not present, your team coach will have the authority to remove a student from play and/or not allow a student to start play. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter. It is our expectation that you will be appropriately dressed and in uniform while representing Loreto Normanhurst. Please see your sport specific booklets for full details on what uniform is required for your sport.
