 CIS Football Cup

Congratulations to the CIS Football Cup team who played their first round of the Cup Tournament this week. The team had a very successful first round, defeating Redeemer Baptist College, and are looking forward to their second round match to be played in the coming weeks. We wish the team all the best of luck for the remainder of the Cup Tournament.


Cricket for Project Compassion

Interhouse Sports Challenge is well underway after two rounds of T20 Blast Cricket on the oval. Thank you to all Sports Captains, House Captains, players, and spectators for making these lunch time matches so enjoyable to be part of. As we move into the final week of matches, please continue to encourage your Houses to attend so we can raise as much as possible for Project Compassion. An extended thank you to Sports Captain, Tatum Bird, for her organisation of this wonderful event.


NSW All Schools Touch Football Qualifier

Congratulations to the Years 9 and 10 Loreto Normanhurst Touch Football team who took part in the NSW All Schools Touch Football Qualifying round at Manly this week. The team played extremely well, making it through to the semi-final round where they were unfortunately defeated. Well done girls on an outstanding effort and all the best as you continue representing the school at these invitational competitions.

This week, a number of Loreto Normanhurst students will be competing at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships at Homebush. We have received some wonderful results already (below), and look forward to seeing the results from events taking place this weekend. Good luck to all Loreto Normanhurst competitors this week.

Eliza Harvey (Year 12) – placed 6th (13th overall) in her heat of the 800m.

Elizabeth Chippendale (Year 12) – placed 6th (16th overall), in her heat of the Under 20 Girls 400m event.

Zoe Warland (Year 11) – received a Bronze medal in the Under 17 Girls Long Jump event, and placed 6th in the 100m Hurdles heat (10th overall) in a personal best time.

Georgia Arcus (Year 9) – finished in 15th place (26 starters), in the Under 15 Girls 300m event.


Good luck to all our rowers competing at the Australian National Rowing Championships next week. Loreto Normanhurst students will be competing against schools, clubs, and university crews from across the country at this National event being held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre.

Current sport/activity:
I am playing softball for school and water polo for Central Newcastle and Hunter Hurricanes.

Favourite school sport/activity:
Any sport. I’m looking forward to having a go at rowing.

Highest level of sporting achievement:
I have competed at State and National U14’s and U16’s water polo tournaments and I also played for NSW. I have competed at NSWCCC for swimming and athletics.

Best moment of Loreto Sport for you:
I am new to the school so I’m sure there will be lots of great moments, one so far was getting to trial for the IGSSA Open Water Polo team.

Best subject at school:

Any superstitions before playing sport:
No superstitions, just excitement for the game ahead.

Best tune to listen to before competing:
No particular song, usually something with quite a bit of beat and volume.
