Weekend Sport
Another great weekend of Sport is in the books for Term 4, with a number of teams making the long journey down to Mittagong to play their fixtures against Frensham. I would like to thank all the parents, supports and of course the students who are often up before the sun to ensure they get to the venue on time and it was extremely pleasing to be contacted by Ms Erin Gray, Head of Sport at Frensham, to send on her appreciation of the attendance and attitude of our teams across the board.
Once again, we have wet weather on the radar for games this weekend, so please make sure you check the relevant wet weather sites before you leave home to confirm the status of your fixture:
IGSSA Sport (touch football/water polo)
IPSHA Sport (basketball/cricket/tennis)
Taekwondo
Good luck to Juliet Lahood (Year 9) who is currently in Korea representing Australia in the Kimunyong Cup International Taekwondo Championships. We wish Juliet every success!
Gymnastics
At time of publishing, our secondary gymnastics squad are making their way around their bar, floor and vault rotations at the IGSSA Gymnastics carnival so we’ll provide a summary of results in next week’s newsletter and keep our fingers crossed for those girls involved.
On Thursday, we had our primary students on show at the IPSHA Gymnastics Carnival. Congratulations to Francesca Byrne-Fister (Year 5), Rhiannon Doyle (Year 5), Eleanor Low (Year 5), Kayla McKeown (Year 5), Jessica Roche (Year 5) and Lucia Van Der Heiden (Year 5) for some excellent displays, with a big thanks to secondary students Alexa Yu (Year 7) and Tatiana Chapman (Year 10) who were able to call on their wealth of gymnastics knowledge to provide some expert coaching and guidance to the primary girls.
Swimming
Massive congratulations to Maddison Hinds (Year 6), who competed in the Australian Short Course Championships this week. Maddison swam in the Opens 50m Breaststroke Multi-Class event and her time of 44.88 makes her the 5th fastest swimmer in that event in Australia! Well done Maddison!
Term 1, 2018 Sport Nominations
It’s that time of year already! Nominations for Term 1 Sport in 2018 closed today and students will be notified via email on Monday with the list of successful nominations. Please make sure you and your daughter check that she has nominated for the correct sport and that she is also aware of the commitment she is making by nominating, particularly regarding her attendance at all training sessions and fixtures.
Trials for teams will occur later this term, with information regarding specific sport trials being sent out to students in the coming weeks, so students should keep an eye on their school emails for that information.
