Weekend Sport
It has been a fantastic start to the season for our teams, squads and crews with some great results and efforts from the weekend. There were reports from all over Sydney about how well our girls had performed.
In more excellent news, the attendance figures were exceptionally high across the board so on behalf of the Sport Department, a huge thank you to the families and students who are all making the effort to get to their games at least 30 minutes ahead of the starting time to ensure the coaches have ample time to prepare the team for their fixture. I look forward to this fantastic standard being maintained for the remainder of Term 4.
With a bit of wet weather floating about for this weekend’s sport, please make sure you check the relevant wet weather sites before you leave home to confirm the status of your fixture.
IGSSA Sport (touch football/water polo)
IPSHA Sport (basketball/cricket/tennis)
We have a number of teams in Frensham this weekend so please make sure you allow ample travel time to get to your venue on time. Good luck to everyone involved in sport this weekend!
All Schools Athletics
We were extremely well-represented as always by our Athletics Squad at the NSW All Schools Athletics Championships that were held last Thursday to Sunday. 15 students competed and came away with some fantastic finishes and personal bests. The standout performances of the weekend were:
• Elizabeth Chippendale (Year 11) 3rd 17’s 400m (National Qualifier)
• Eliza Harvey (Year 11) 2nd 16’s 800m (National Qualifier), 4th 16’s 400m (National Qualifier)
• Zoe Warland (Year 10) 3rd 15’s 200m Hurdles (National Qualifier), 5th 15’s 90m Hurdles (National Qualifier)
• Alana Kavanagh (Year 8) 7th 14’s 2000m Steeplechase (National Qualifier)
Well done to all girls involved and a huge thanks to Coach Ross Forster who provided his always-excellent guidance to the girls over the weekend.
Equestrian
Congratulations to Madelyn Nelson (Year 11), Bridie Cooksey (Year 9) and Tahlia Coleiro (Year 9) who competed at the Tamworth Inter-Schools Horse Extravaganza last weekend. Here are some of their fantastic results:

Bridie Cooksey

Tahlia Coleiro
• 105 ODE 3rd Place
• 2.2 Dressage 1st Place

T20 Blast Cricket
We played host to 200 Year 7 and 8 students for the Cricket NSW T20 Blast Regional Qualifiers on Monday, with over 130 Loreto students taking part. The girls put on a wonderful display, rotating between skills and drills sessions and Blast matches in their pools. Congratulations to Pymble Ladies College whose top team took out the competition.
PSSA Athletics
Lucia Vanderheiden (Year 5) had her jumping shoes on again this week as she represented CIS at the NSW PSSA Athletics Championships on Thursday. She cleared 1.25m which is a great effort and finished 25th in the state! Well done Lucia!
Cheerleading
Our Cheer Squad was on show again at the All Star Cheer and Dance Spring Carnival last Sunday. They put on a fantastic routine, developed with months of hard work and training and came away with 2nd place and a very spectacular trophy! If you’d like to see the girls perform their award-winning routine, they will be on stage at the Spring Fair at 12:30pm and 1:30pm so come on down!
Rugby 7s
More great results from the Rugby 7s world with Tatum Bird (Year 11), Kiara Williams-Browne (Year 11), Kiara Barnes (Year 11) and Riarna Anderson (Year 11) all competing in the NSW U/17’s Women’s Rugby 7s State Championships. The girls were representing Eastwood Rugby Club, with Tatum and Kiara W-B’s team winning the competition and Kiara B and Riarna’s team finishing 15th overall. Further, there has been more good news for Tatum, who has been invited to attend the Australian U/18’s Women’s 7s camp in December to compete for a spot on in the national U/18’s squad. In addition, she has just been selected in the Under 20’s Tarsha Gale Cup Rugby League Team for Cronulla Sharks. Great job by all our girls involved!
