Sport

football
Well done to our CIS Cup team who managed to hold off a late fight back from The Illawarra Grammar School to progress to the semi finals of the CIS Cup! The team was cruising at 4-1 up until a couple of late TIGS goals saw the final few minutes become very tense indeed. They now look forward to a match up with either Oakhill College or Hunter Valley Grammar School to book a place in the final! Best of luck, girls!
Furthermore, well done to Victoria Martin and Eloise Hansen who were part of the victorious IGSSA Squad at the CIS Championships on Monday and Tuesday – they both played exceptionally.
Hockey
Kate Reynolds is on fire – she was part of the IGSSA Squad who came 1st at the CIS Championships on Wednesday and has gone on to be selected in the CIS squad which is a huge achievement – well done, Kate.
Tennis
Congratulations to some of our junior tennis stars who competed at the North West Secondary Schools Challenge last weekend. Faith Zalm, Annabelle Gohl, Tara Savell-McKean, Hannah Nicholson, Heidi Green, Claudia Sykes, Emma Bower, Audrey Kha and Emma Jones all competed with Heidi and Claudia winning their division and Emma Jones also winning her mixed doubles pairing. This is a fantastic result and we wish the girls the best for the final round of the Secondary Schools Challenge.
Athletics
There have been some great performances on the oval this week with secondary students completing the second half of our Athletics Carnival in the field events. If any student missed their chance to compete, the schedule for make up events is as follows:
- Tuesday 30th May: High Jump & Long Jump (all age divisions)
- Wednesday 31st May: Shotput, Discus & Javelin (all age divisions)
If you are unable to make these make up sessions but would still like a chance to represent Loreto at the IGSSA Carnival, there will be opportunities to do so via the Friday Night Athletics meets which runs during Term 3. More information about those meets will be sent out closer to the date, so please keep your eyes peeled.
Swimming & Diving
I don’t mind being wrong when the news is this good – last week we published that Tatiana Chapman came 2nd in her 3m springboard event, when in actual fact she came first! This means she’ll go through to compete at the Pacific Schools Games in December – way to go, Tatiana!
More good news with Maddison Hinds also being selected to swim at the PSG’s – we wish both girls all the best at that meet.
Photos
We love seeing photos of our girls enjoying sport, but unfortunately we can’t be everywhere at once. If you’re out and about over the weekend at your daughter’s fixtures, please send through any snaps you get to sport@loretonh.nsw.edu.au.
