Football
Good luck to our Senior 1st Football Team who will be going up to Coffs Harbour on Wednesday to play Bishop Druitt College in Round 3 of the NSW CIS Cup. The squad will be looking to avenge our defeat at the hands of Bishop Druitt in the same round of the Cup in 2014 – go get ‘em, girls!
IGSSA Cross Country
Congratulations to all students who have been selected to represent the school at the IGSSA Cross Country Championships to be held at Frensham next Friday 12th May. It’s always a fantastic day down in Mittagong and here’s hoping we get some excellent results as well!
Netball
Sophie Dwyer (Year 10) is on fire! She has been selected in the 17/U National Netball Squad to participate in Netball Australia camps in June and September. This is a fantastic achievement for Sophie and thoroughly deserved. We wish her all the best for the upcoming camps.
Swimming & Diving
Some great results from the CIS Swimming and Diving Carnival this week with Breanna Ivankovic (Year 10), Abby Hartshorne (Year 9) and Tatiana Chapman (Year 10) all gaining selection into the CIS team to compete at the NSW All Schools Championships next Friday. At that meet, the girls will be competing for a spot in the State Team to go to the Pacific Schools Games later this year so best of luck girls!
Horse Sports
With the Coonabarabran Expo just around the corner, some of our riders were fine-tuning their performances on Monday at the Scone Horse Sports event. Arabella Barr (Year 10), Tahlia Coleiro (Year 9), Bridie Cooksey (Year 9), Ginger Soames (Year 10) and Brooklyn Symes (Year 10) all rode fantastically, with ribbons galore for the girls and their horses. Particular congratulations to Ginger and Tahlia for being named Overall Champion 16 Year Old Girl Overall Reserve Champion 15 Year Old respectively.
Duke of Ed
Our Bronze Duke of Ed participants embarked upon their practice canoeing journey last weekend in the Berowra Valley. The girls met at Dusthole Bay Marina and canoed to their campsite at Crosslands Reserve. Here they put their newly learned camp craft skills into practice, cooking on trangias and pitching tents. The following morning the girls canoed back to Dusthole Bay Marina to conclude their journey. Well done to the girls and a huge thank you to the four parents who volunteered to attend the trip as the school’s representatives.
Interschools Snowsports
With the frosty chill officially in the air, that can only mean one thing: winter is coming… and that means snowsports! This is the 30th year of Interschools and the long term forecast looks good for snow. We will be inviting students to compete on behalf of the school at the Northern NSW Interschools Snowsports event, which takes place in Perisher this year from 4th-8th July. There will be a meeting for interested students held on Tuesday 9th May at recess in the Curran Theatre. All students are welcome to attend to find out more about what exactly Interschools is and how they can get involved. Remember: girls don’t need to be experts to compete at Interschools – competition ranges from girls who have completed a learn-to-ski/snowboard program right up to experienced skiers and boarders.
