Sport

Congratulations!
Well done to Alana Kavanagh (Year 8) who has been selected for the U15s State Blues Hockey Team. She’ll be competing for NSW at the National titles in April so we wish her all the very best.
Huge congratulations to our swimmers who competed at the State Open titles last weekend. There were squads from all over the world as well as some Aussie Olympians and some of the results from our girls were tremendous.
IGSSA and IPSHA Swimming and Diving Carnivals
What a fantastic couple of days in the pool! On Tuesday our Primary Swim Squad did Loreto Normanhurst proud at the IPSHA Swimming and Diving Carnival with some really great times across the meet.
Our IGSSA girls then doubled down because they stepped up on Thursday and finished 5th overall which is a sensational effort for the squad. The squad even came away with some bling, courtesy of our Diving Team, made up of Tatiana Chapman (Year 10) and Alexa Yu (Year 7) – they combined to win the “Most Improved” trophy as well as be declared Division 2 point score winners.
Thanks to our superstar cheer squad (a.k.a. our Year 7 girls) and the Sport Leaders (plus our always excellent Year 7 team) who cheered the girls on in every race.
Open Day
Some quick FAQ’s about Open Day tomorrow…
“When you say ‘football’, do you mean… soccer?”
“The school does equestrian? That’s so cool – where are the stables?”
“Am I allowed to try the rowing machines?”
To find out the answer to all these questions and more, come along to the Sport desk in the gym at tomorrow’s Open Day. We’ll also have demonstrations from our Dance, Cheer and Taekwondo groups as well as gymnastics and our annual Students vs Old Girls tennis match on Court 1 at 12pm. And yes, you can have a go on the rowing machines!
CIS FOOTBALL CUP
Good luck to our footballers who will begin their season this Monday with a CIS Cup fixture vs Covenant Christian College at 4pm on the school oval. The girls are fired up and ready to avenge last season’s elimination with a solid performance. Please come along and support our girls as their quest for the cup begins!
athletics trials
With the 2017 Athletics Carnival coming up on Wednesday 5 April, we will be holding the preliminary trials for all field events and the 200m/400m on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 of March. These will be held on the school oval from 3:30pm and finish each day at 5:00pm. A detailed schedule will be emailed to all girls as well as information regarding qualifying distances/heights.
All girls will receive an email to nominate for our championship races in 100m, 800m and 1500m prior to the carnival. All other events will require a trial with the top eight girls in each event across each age group being selected to compete in the final at the school carnival.
