In Term 4, 2016 we will be introducing a new program structure to both Secondary Cheerleading and Dance at Loreto Normanhurst. Currently Cheerleading and Dance are classified as Activities within the school’s extra-curricular sports program however as of Term 4 they will be classified as Sports. What does this mean for our students? As of Term 4, if students nominate for either Cheerleading or Dance they will be committing to a full season.

The Cheerleading season will begin in Term 1, 2017 and end in Term 4, 2017. Term 4, 2016 will act as a trial period for this new program structure.

The Dance season will begin in Term 4, 2016 and end in Term 3, 2017.

Students who nominate for Cheerleading or Dance will not be required to nominate for an IGSSA Saturday Sport. This point is more relevant for our boarder community, and the option to participate in an IGSSA Saturday Sport will still exist.

As the commitment to these sports changes for our students, so will the training schedules. Students can access the new training schedules via the online Activity Nomination Form and are also listed below:

  •  Wednesday 3:30pm-5:00pm (Troupe 1 Dance Rehearsal)
  • Thursday 3:30pm-5:00pm (Troupe 2 Dance Rehearsal)
  •  Friday 3:30pm-5:00pm (Combined Contemporary Technique Class)
  •  Saturday 1:30pm-3:00pm (Combined Jazz and Ballet Technique Class)

Students will be required to attend either their Wednesday or Thursday individual dance troupe rehearsal, as well as both Friday and Saturday combined technique classes (totalling 3 sessions per week).

  •  Saturday 12:00pm-3:00pm
  •  Additional training sessions will commence in Term 1, 2017

If you have any questions about the change to either Cheerleading or Dance please contact the Sport Department –

Supporter t-shirts and soft shell jackets are now available for purchase from the uniform shop. Sport at Loreto Normanhurst would like to encourage all supporters, parents or otherwise, to continue building the wonderful sporting spirit we have at Loreto by purchasing a supporter specific t-shirt or jacket to wear at sporting events and carnivals.

Each sporting team is allocated a coach by the school and has a nominated student captain to assist the coach where possible. However, there are occasions where another set of hands or an adult point of contact is required within a team. With this in mind, the Sport Department extends an invitation to our parent body to consider being a volunteer for your daughter’s team and be appointed as the Parent Manager. For more information, please contact the Head of Sport, Ms Jasmine Palmer.

A PowerPoint presentation of the uniform can be found on the Student Sport Portal which students can access.

Girls selected in Senior Firsts and Junior First teams will have a different uniform (top or dress) that they hire from the Uniform Shop.

To see the full range please see the power-point slideshow in the Sports Portal.
