Two very important items for all our families ahead of this weekend:
COVID-19 Restrictions: Some venues are operating under modified restrictions whilst the standing order is in place from the NSW Government across this weekend.
All IGSA Basketball fixtures being played indoors will require spectators to be wearing masks at all times. Please note players are not required to wear masks when playing.
We recommend that all spectators carry masks with them to venues this weekend, and please remember to sign in with the QR codes, maintain a 1.5m distance between spectators and always follow the instructions of school or venue staff.
Wet Weather: with the drenching Sydney has received over the past 72 hours, some venues may not be playable on Saturday morning. Please make sure you’re checking your respective Venue Closure information source before leaving home tomorrow – even if it’s a sunny day, the fields may still be waterlogged and unplayable.
Please make sure you check the relevant wet weather sites for any news regarding cancellations.
Term 3 Sport Nominations
Today was the final day for Term 3 Sports nominations. Secondary students have the opportunity to nominate for IGSA Hockey, IGSA Netball, Rugby 7’s and Cheerleading, and Primary students have been able to nominate for IPSHA AFL or IPSHA Touch Football.
- If your daughter is participating in Hills Netball this season, she does not need to re-nominate for Hills Netball in Term 3.
- If your daughter has been participating in the Secondary Cheerleading program in Term 2, she will need to submit a nomination for Term 3.
All nominations will be confirmed by email next week. If your daughter has not yet submitted a nomination but would like to nominate for a Term 3 sport, please contact the Sport Department ASAP.
Term 3 Activity nominations will go out later in the Term.
IGSA Cross Country
Today was supposed to be the big day for our distance runners, however Mother Nature once again intervened, so the IGSA Cross Country Championships have been postponed to Friday 14 May. I’ll have a full wrap of that event in next fortnight’s newsletter.

Loreto Sports Girl: Lily Whalan, Year 7
Current sport/activity: Springboard diving
Favourite school sport/activity: After one term at Loreto I’ve tried cross country and hockey which I like, and I’m looking forward to trying touch footy next!
Highest level of sporting achievement: In the holidays I competed at the club nationals for Diving in Brisbane and my syncro partner and I won the gold medal which we were pretty proud of.
Best moment of Loreto Sport for you: Being able to represent my school at IGSA and CIS diving this year.
Favourite sporting moment as a spectator: Watching Rhiannan Iffland the world champion cliff diver do some impressive tricks at the country diving championships in Wauchope.
Best subject at school: I really like English and Food Tech, because I also love reading and cooking.
Any superstitions before playing sports: Yes, lots! I have a lucky pair of swimmers for diving and a special hairband that I continuously lose at the bottom of the pool.
Best tune to listen to before competing: I like to listen to Rise up by Beyoncé on my way to training and competitions.
