LN Sport Wrap
Another massive newsletter wrap from Sport, with Primary School Swimming and Cross Country results, IGSSA Hockey Rep news, previews of the Head of the River, Tildesley Tennis and the IGSSA Swim & Dive Championships and IPSHA Football and Netball trial info – lets go!
IPSHA Swim & Dive
On Tuesday, our Primary School pool stars were lighting up SOPAC as they competed in the IPSHA Swim and Dive Carnival. It was an exceptional meet for our girls, with a staggering 28 personal best times swum in 29 races! Huge congrats to all our swimmers and a massive thanks to our coaches, Nicole and Andrew, who oversaw the squad.
Primary Cross Country Carnival
From the pool to the oval, and it was our runners turn to shine for the Primary School Cross Country Carnival on Thursday. There was colour and noise everywhere, as the triannual battle between Benedicta, Clare and Dorothea played out over 2kms or 3kms. Congratulations to all our runners, with special mention to our podium finishers in each age group:
10 Years – 1st Georgia Mercer-Witenden (Year 5), 2nd Charlotte Stephenson (Year 5), 3rd Lucy Saad (Year 5)
11 Years – 1st Seren D’Souza (Year 5), 2nd Tessa Young (Year 5), 3rd Grace Vukasovic (Year 5)
12 Years – 1st Eva Cusick (Year 6), 2nd Gabriella Connell (Year 6), 3rd Lucinda Durston (Year 6)
Hockey
As we go to print, we’ve got 4 girls trialing at the IGSSA Hockey U/16’s Representative trials. Fingers crossed for Sophie Fanning (Year 10), Charlotte Spooner (Year 7), Aisling Kennedy (Year 8) and Lucy Ball (Year 8), and I’ll bring you all the updates in the next newsletter.
Rowing
Best of luck to our rowers who are taking part in the Schoolgirl Head of the River this Sunday at Sydney International Regatta Centre. It’s been a fantastic season of racing for the entire program, and I wish them all the very best and give it their all out on the course.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our Rowing Parent Support Group for all their efforts this season, and a big thank you to our Head of Rowing, Mr Ian Edmunds, for his tireless efforts in his leadership of the rowing program.
Our Schoolgirl VIII and the Year 10 Double will be off to Tasmania next week to compete at the Australian Rowing Championships, and I’ll have a full update in the next newsletter.
There’s also been some awesome success for some LN students and ex-students, with Lily Gavan (Year 12), and ex-students Laura Gourley and Niamh Graham all selected into the NSW Women’s Youth VIII crew who will also be competing at the Australian Rowing Championships. Lily also had some fantastic results at the State Championships recently, picking up a gold, silver and bronze in her U/19 races. Well done to all those girls!
Tildesley Tennis Championships
It’s the culmination of a long preparation for our Tildesley Tennis team, as they take to the courts on Wednesday and Thursday next week against the best of the rest of IGSSA. Best of luck to all our girls involved, and all the results and highlights will be in the newsletter next fortnight.
IGSSA Swim & Dive
On Friday, 26 March, our Secondary Swim & Dive squad will be in action at SOPAC at the IGSSA Swim & Dive Championships. Last season, the squad came away with one of the best results for Loreto Normanhurst at an IGSSA Swim & Dive Carnival, and I know the girls can’t wait to get out there and try to go one better this time round. Best of luck, girls!
Primary CIS Football and IPSHA Netball trials
Coming up over the next two weeks, we’ve got some Primary girls trialing for the representative pathway, with Seren D’Souza (Year 5), Tessa Young (Year 5) and Gabriella Connell (Year 6) trialing for the Primary CIS Football team, and Eva Cusick (Year 6) and Trinity Hanna (Year 6) both trialing for the IPSHA Netball team – good luck to all!
