Saturday Sport
There is predicted to be more poor air quality around Sydney tomorrow, which may impact on some Saturday Sport fixtures or training sessions. All students have received an email with information regarding tomorrow, but as a reminder, before leaving home please make sure you check on the IGSSA Venue Closures website, the HKDTA website or the IPSHA App for any venue closures across Sydney. If air quality affects rowing training or cheerleading training, an email will be sent directly to those students as soon as a decision has been made. Please remember that unless you hear from the Sport Department directly, or from the sources listed above, your game will be going ahead as scheduled. There will be different conditions across Sydney tomorrow, so please don’t assume that because the weather is clear at your place that it won’t be smoky at your venue (and vice versa). All decisions will be made with the health and safety of participants as a primary concern – fingers crossed for a clear day!
Primary Swimming Carnival
Our Primary superfish were in the pool on Thursday, competing at the Primary School Swimming Carnival. There was colour and noise aplenty as the three House, Benedicta, Clare and Dorothea, battled it out to see who would walk away with the Spirit Cup and the all-important Overall Point Score Trophy.
There were some awesome races, including both the 4 x 50 House Relay and the 50m Invitational both being decided by a touch at the wall!
We are currently crunching the numbers and we’ll have a full wrap of results once they’ve been finalised.
Cricket
On Wednesday, our superstar team “Loreto Heat” competed in the Cricket NSW T20 Cricket Blast Regional Finals. They won selection in this competition after winning the local gala day earlier in the term. Our girls competed to the highest level and came away with 3rd place overall, which is a tremendous effort. One of the highlights of the day was watching Frances O’Brien (Year 8) belt three consecutive 6’s straight down the ground and bring up a huge total of 150! Well done, girls!
Secondary Swimming Carnival
As we count down the final weeks of the year, there’s still one major event to go – the Secondary School Swimming Carnival is on again next Wednesday 27 November at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, Homebush. Racing begins at 8am with the 200IM, 50m Butterfly and 100m Freestyle – the pool will be open from 7:30am for warmups. Good luck to all students competing; and don’t forget your goggles!
Wet Weather Information
A reminder for how to access information regarding ground closures due to wet weather for weekend sport. Please make sure you check the relevant website prior to leaving home to ensure your venue is open for play.

An important note regarding correct sport uniform for Saturday competition sport:
Students who are not dressed in the correct uniform for competition will not be allowed to play. In the case that a Loreto Sport staff member is not present, your team coach will have the authority to remove a student from play and/or not allow a student to start play. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter. It is our expectation that you will be appropriately dressed and in uniform while representing Loreto Normanhurst. Please see your sport specific booklets for full details on what uniform is required for your sport.
