Normo vs Riverview Netball
It was a fantastic event on Monday as our Year 12 netballers took on the best St Ignatius had to offer to raise funds for the Bursary Program. The gym was packed and the action was incredible – LN jumped out to an early lead on the back of accurate shooting going forward and some lockdown defence at the other end of the court. The game became so one-sided, it was only fair to loan champion netballer Sophie Dwyer to the Riverview team so that they might hit double-digits! At the final hooter, the final score was 34-14, however 46 of those goals came from Loreto Normanhurst shooters! Big thanks to the Riverview squad for being a part of a tremendous and traditional fundraiser!
Well done to our Dance Troupe girls who performed at the Independent Dance Festival last week. It was a long day of dancing and learning; they spent the day in workshops, followed by a performance evening. Both groups put on a fantastic show and had the crowd in awe! Well done girls!
Great job by Sofia Storgato (Year 6) and Tayla Moore (Year 5), who represented IPSHA at the CIS Primary Athletics Carnival on Thursday. Sofia ran well in the 100m and 200m, finishing 5th and 6th respectively. Tayla was on show from the throws circle, taking out 1st in the discus and 2nd in the shot put. Great work from both girls!
Still on athletics, good luck to our teams competing in the NSW State Relays on Tuesday – I’ll have those results in next week’s newsletter.
Huge congrats to Charlotte Barnett (Year 5) who took home a gold medal at last weekend’s Rhythmic State Championships. She put together an amazingly consistent performance across the events, finishing 2nd in the rope, 2nd in the ball and 4th in the ribbon to finish 1st overall! Way to go Charlotte!

An important note regarding correct sport uniform for Saturday competition sport:
Students who are not dressed in the correct uniform for competition will not be allowed to play. In the case that a Loreto Sport staff member is not present, your team coach will have the authority to remove a student from play and/or not allow a student to start play. Thank you in advance, for your cooperation in this matter. It is our expectation that you will be appropriately dressed and in uniform while representing Loreto Normanhurst. Please see your sport specific booklets for full details on what uniform is required for your sport.
Loreto Sports Girl: Katrina Oong
Current sport/activity: Netball umpiring.
Favourite school sport/activity: Pilates with my friends.
Highest level of sporting achievement: National C Umpiring Badge.
Best moment of Loreto Sport for you: Being awarded “best and fairest” for Year 7 Netball and Year 11 Softball.
Favourite sporting moment as a spectator: Sitting on the bench watching my friend Gahee score a 3 pointer in the last 5 minutes of my final basketball game this year. It really was a great way to end a great season.
Best subject at school: My most enjoyable subject at school is definitely “Visual Arts”. Especially in Year 12, I am very grateful to have the option to have a creative outlet and take a break from my normal studies while still being productive.
Any superstitions before playing sport: It is not really a superstition, but I make sure I bring my asthma puffer to every game.
Best tune to listen to before competing: All Star by Smash Mouth.
We love seeing photos of our girls enjoying sport but, unfortunately, we can’t be everywhere at once. If you’re out and about over the weekend at your daughter’s fixtures, please send through any snaps you get to email@example.com.
