IGSSA Representative Softball Trials
We had five students in action at the IGSSA representative softball trials on Thursday, with Bailey Henderson (Year 11), Samantha North (Year 11), Nicola Lawson (Year 11), Peyton Henderson (Year 10), and Eliza King (Year 8) all trialling for a spot in the IGSSA team. There was plenty of great softball talent on show, and we congratulate Bailey, Samantha and Peyton on their selections into the representative team that will now move on to compete in the CIS Carnival later this year. You can read more about Samantha North in the Loreto Sports Girl feature article below.
IPSHA Representative Basketball Trials
From the diamond to the parquet, four of our IPSHA hoopers were looking for an opportunity to be selected in the IPSHA team on Thursday. Mia Khoudair (Year 5), Jemima Foster (Year 6), Stephanie Wilkins (Year 6) and Emily Paterson (Year 6) all put up a tremendous performance – a big congratulations to Emily who was selected into the IPSHA squad – well done to all four girls involved!
CIS Cricket Trials
At the time of going to print, Olivia Fanning (Year 11) is currently trialling for a spot in the CIS Cricket team. We’ve got our fingers and toes crossed – check out next week’s newsletter for an update.
Touch Football
Earlier this month Mia Jones (Year 8) was selected in the Central Coast Dolphins Representative team and competed at the Peter Wilson Memorial Touch Football Weekend. As a result of her performance, Mia has been selected for the NSW Hunter Western Hornets Squad.
Last weekend Mia also played at the NSW State Cup Oz Tag championship at Coffs Harbour and her team won the title of State Champions!
This weekend coming Mia is competing in the NSW Junior Touch Football State Championships at Port Macquarie. Congratulations to Mia for these fantastic achievements and we wish her all the best in Port Macquarie.

Correct Sport Uniform
An important note regarding correct sport uniform for Saturday competition sport:
Students who are not dressed in the correct uniform for competition will NOT be allowed to play. In the case that a Loreto Sport staff member is not present, your team coach will have the authority to remove a student from play and/or not allow a student to start play. Thank you in advance, for your cooperation in this matter. It is our expectation that you will be appropriately dressed and in uniform while representing Loreto Normanhurst. Please see your sport specific booklets for full details on what uniform is required for your sport.
Loreto Sports Girl: Samantha North
Current sport/activity: I currently am playing IGGSA softball with the senior firsts.
Favourite school sport/activity: My favourite sport is softball.
Highest level of sporting achievement: My highest level of achievement was playing open women’s state league for North Shore and coming second. I would also say gaining my Level 1 accreditation for umpiring and umpiring state tournaments is a big achievement for me.
Best moment of Loreto Sport for you: My best moment of Loreto sport was scoring the winning goal in water polo from my position in goals.
Favourite sporting moment as a spectator: I recently went out to the Summer Slam, where two of our ex-students Tahli Moore and Ellen Roberts were playing for Australia. While there I got to watch not only Tahli and Ellen but a mix of world class players from Italy, China, New Zealand and Australia – all of whom I idolise.
Best subject at school: Modern and Ancient History.
Any superstitions before playing sport: Although not overly superstitious it’s a common belief that you don’t walk onto the diamond until the game starts, so you often see coaches retrieving balls off the diamond or girls tip-toeing around the edges trying to retrieve lost balls without crossing onto the diamond.
Best tune to listen to before competing: A song that always gets me pumped up before a match or as a song to play during a warm up is Can’t Stop by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

We love seeing photos of our girls enjoying sport but, unfortunately, we can’t be everywhere at once. If you’re out and about over the weekend at your daughter’s fixtures, please send through any snaps you get to sport@loretonh.nsw.edu.au.
