Term 1 Sport

After the rain held back our Year 7 grading day last Saturday, everything kicks off this weekend with IGSSA Softball, IGSSA Tennis, Loreto Invitational Badminton, IPSHA Football, IPSHA Flippaball, Cheerleading and Rowing all on the cards this weekend.

A special good luck to our Year 5 and Year 7 teams who will be getting their first taste of Loreto Normanhurst sport action this week!

Good luck to Bailey Henderson, Year 11, Samantha North, Year 11, Nicola Lawson, Year 11, Peyton Henderson, Year 10 and Eliza King, Year 8 who will be trialling for the IGSSA Representative Softball Team on Thursday next week – best of luck girls!

Term 2 Secondary Sport Nominations

IGSSA Basketball, IGSSA Football and Hills Netball are all on offer – nominations for these sports will close on Friday 15 February, so please make sure all nominations are submitted by this date to guarantee yourself a place in that sport.

correct sport uniform

An important note regarding correct sport uniform for Saturday competition sport:

Students who are not dressed in the correct uniform for competition will NOT be allowed to play. In the case that a Loreto Sport staff member is not present, your team coach will have the authority to remove a student from play and/or not allow a student to start play. Thank you in advance, for your cooperation in this matter. It is our expectation that you will be appropriately dressed and in uniform while representing Loreto Normanhurst. Please see your sport specific booklets for full details on what uniform is required for your sport.

Loreto Sports Girl: Grace Gillies

Current sport/activity: Rowing

Favourite school sport/activity: Rowing and netball

Highest level of sporting achievement: Competing at Nationals for rowing in 2017.

Best moment of Loreto Sport for you: Winning the IGSSA netball competition in 2018.

Favourite sporting moment as a spectator: Watching my friend Olivia Colman win the Loreto Normanhurst Invitational at the school athletics carnival in 2018 as well as watching my brother and his crew win the Schoolboys XIII Head of the River in 2018.

Best subject at school: Music

Any superstitions before playing sport: Once I get on the court to play a game of netball I have to do five tuck jumps to get my legs pumping. Before I get on an erg rower or into a rowing boat I always stretch my arms up to the sky and then touch my toes – this stretches out my back and gives me good luck.

Best tune to listen to before competing: ‘Starlight’ by SAFIA. This song really relaxes me.

We love seeing photos of our girls enjoying sport but, unfortunately, we can’t be everywhere at once. If you’re out and about over the weekend at your daughter’s fixtures, please send through any snaps you get to

If you’re on Twitter, you can follow us at @loretonhsport – tweet us and use the hashtag #LetsGoLoreto and we’ll retweet as many as we can!
