Secondary Swimming Carnival Results

‘Twas the final Wednesday Assembly, girls gathered in their House
Not a student was stirring, each one quiet as a mouse
The trophies were placed on the stage with great care
With the girls hoping soon, their names would be engraved there.

The announcement was ready, it was time for the winners
To see who came first and who would be grinners
The age groups were first from 12’s to 17’s
The girls rushed to the stage, like 7 excited elves.

First Cordelia Stephen, then Charlotte Rigney
Followed by a procession of Abbey’s and Abby’s
Williamson next, then Hartshorne and Feurtado
Breanna Ivankovic rounded off, making her way up with gusto.

Divisions were next, with Junior, Inter and Senior
The girls on the stage had an eager demeanour
The Champion of Juniors was the Williamson, Abbey
Compiling a points total that wasn’t too shabby.

Then Abby Hartshorne was Intermediate Champion
Earning herself another trophy for her name to be engraved on
Senior Champion went to Breanna Ivankovic
Collecting her trophy without so much as a hitch.

The Invitational Crown is worn by the fastest in the school
The top 10 freestylers over 50 in the pool
A record was broken by the winner this year
Abby Hartshorne came 1st, smiling ear to ear.

There were records broken too, across all the ages
Hartshorne, Stephen and Henry wrote their names in the pages
Kendall’s All Age relay was a super-fast time
Taking 7 seconds off the previous mark to prove they were prime.

It was finally time for the two major prizes
The girls all leaned in, some hoping for surprises
The Spirit Cup is given to cheerers
Those who are loud, and colourful and fearless.

The chanting was judged by Parker, Madigan and Long
With three learned minds, they wouldn’t get it wrong
They looked and they listened and thought on the day
The best show of spirit came from the House of Maye.

The Cup was collected by Maye leaders Kenny and Woods
It was the Maroon House that would take home the goods
A hush then fell upon the entire gymnasium
Which was stark in contrast to last week’s cheering in the stadium.

It was time for the Overall Point Score to be awarded
And the victorious House to have their victory recorded
Out broke the drum roll and then silence, temporary
Until it was announced – the winning house was Barry!

Up jumped Team Yellow, led by Jess and Ella
Head of House Ms Jenkins was feeling quite stellar!
Thus drew an end to the Secondary Swim Party
With congratulations dished out, both merry and hearty.

A huge thanks to parents who helped on the day
And all those who pitched in on the way
The Carnival is done and it was finished on time
With great swims in the pool, with girls following that black line.

Now we move on, as the Carnival’s reason
To select the LN Swim Squad for the representative season!
