Our very merry Ethical Christmas

This year, our social justice group JPIC decided that they wanted to focus their energy and actions around the idea of an Ethical Christmas at Loreto Normanhurst. They built on the generosity and spirit of giving that is demonstrated throughout Term 4 in the Vinnies Christmas Hamper collection, by holding an Ethical Christmas stall.

Staff and students were asked to donate books, clothes and homewares to be sold to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society for all the excellent work they do for families and individuals living in distress in our society. They also sourced ethically made Christmas cards and decorations and cruelty-free and eco-friendly beauty and cleaning products.

The stall was a great success and it was heartwarming to see so many members of our community get behind the idea of buying second hand, discerning what we truly need and supporting those who need our help.

I wish everyone a peaceful and joyful holiday season.
