Do we all feel that chill in the air? Absolutely! That can mean only one thing at Loreto Normanhurst…it’s knitting time!

This week JPIC launches its annual Wrap with Love knitting campaign – which means knitting squares and blankets for those who need it most in our community. Wrap with Love are a not-for-profit organisation that aims to bring warmth and comfort to the millions of people in Australia, and around the world, who live are living rough. For some people in our community, winter is a time of extreme hardship. By participating in this great cause we can ensure that we bring some warmth and love to all our neighbours.

A Wrap With Love personal wrap comprises 28 squares, 25cm x 25cm (10 inches x 10 inches) sewn together in 4 rows by 7 rows to finished size 100cm x 175cm (40 inches x 70 inches). A Wrap can be knitted, crocheted, machine knitted or woven, with wool, acrylic or lined patchwork.

A 25cm (10 inch) square uses approximately 50g of 8 ply wool.

Each Friday at lunch, JPIC will be running a ‘knit-in’ to teach girls to knit and to gather as a community to create something wonderful. Please feel free to drop in to these sessions or take your completed squares and blankets to the Mission Office.

If you would like to know more information or would like to be involved please feel free to contact me.
