Social Justice

Last Friday, all staff  participated in our annual Staff Spirituality Day. This year’s theme was a day of service.

We were given the opportunity to find God in all things by offering our services to those in need and living out the IBVM values of sincerity and justice. As you would be aware, a Loreto education is focused on developing the whole person and this applies to our staff as much as to our students.

Over 200 staff journeyed all over Sydney to offer their time to organisations that needed our help such as the House of Welcome, who offer support and safety to asylum seekers, St Lucy’s School in Wahroonga, Coast Shelter who offer food and friendship to those living rough on the Central Coast and many more. Other staff demonstrated their commitment to the environment by cleaning up beaches, bays and parks around Sydney and by replanting native plants and clearing noxious weeds from our coastal ecosystems.

It was a worthwhile and rewarding day for all those involved and we were really able to show our local communities that Loreto Normanhurst is committed to being a faith-centred, person-centred and an ecology-centred school.
