Uplift Project and Days for Girls Charities

As many of you are aware, Loreto Normanhurst has held an annual collection of bras for the charity Uplift Project who distribute them to women in need. In recent years, we have also collected new underwear for the Days for Girls charity. Unfortunately, the Uplift Project charity is closing down after the final shipment is made to Fiji next month so there will not be a 2020 collection. As a community, we have given in excess of 2000 bras over the years and also hundreds of pairs of new underwear, which are diverted to the Days for Girls charity. On behalf of the NSW Co-ordinator from Uplift Project, I would like to express their gratitude for the support received from the Loreto Normanhurst community for over ten years.

At this point in time, I am not aware of another organisation that receives used bras. If you know of an alternative organisation, please contact me via emailĀ  and I will share the information via the newsletter. We plan to provide ongoing support for Days for Girls, so any donations of NEW underwear (bikini brief, cotton) will be gratefully received. There is a pink collection bin near Student Services on campus in the Secondary School. Please ensure that the person handling the donations is in excellent health as a necessary part of our COVID-19 safe procedures.
