Wrap with Love

At Loreto Normanhurst our vibrant and energised student body are passionate in advocating for a number of initiatives. As a community, we are working towards raising funds and awareness for the Baby Milk Project as part of Loreto Day. As well as this, our JPIC Social Justice Group has started their annual Wrap with Love initiative.

This initiative involves students  knitting squares at lunchtime once a week, and in their own time, in order to eventually donate these to the Wrap with Love organisation. Here is a little bit about their organisation:

Cold humanity is our concern, people caring about other people.

There are millions of people in the world suffering extreme cold. In 1992 Wrap with Love began with the idea to help as many people as possible by providing warm wraps to ward off hypothermia and in the past 23 years we have sent more than 400,000 wraps to people in over 75 countries, including Australia, with the help of our hardworking and generous volunteers.

In advocating for this organisation, the students of Loreto Normanhurst are calling to mind the homeless and others in need during the colder months. While we are yet to feel that winter chill in Sydney, it will be a time of great struggle and hardship for those who are homeless.

If you would like to get involved in knitting for Wrap with Love please drop your squares to Student Services. This initiative will run for the rest of Term 2 and all of Term 3. The specifications for each square can be found here.
