Principal’s Message

The last weeks of term have been very full. We have all worked hard this term and there are many achievements to celebrate – the Far North Queensland Experience, examinations, the Year 11 Retreat, Assemblies, performances, sporting events and of course, the Year 12 final Graduation festivities. Together as a community we have drawn strength from each other and together we have experienced great joy. Now, at the end of another exciting and satisfying term it is time to rest. I hope that all families enjoy some special moments together over the next two weeks of student vacation.
Last week, Year 12 were spectacularly farewelled by the school. The Graduation Eucharist and Dinner were truly special experiences for the Class of 2016 and their parents. This year group have been an outstanding group of young women and the celebrations were a fitting way to celebrate their achievements and their contributions to the life of our school, and to bless them for the next part of their journey in life. We wish Year 12 well as they prepare for their HSC Examinations. As a community we keep all the Year 12 students and their parents in our prayers at this time. We are proud of the Class of 2016, no matter their results, as they have been a fine group of young women.
Our Year 11 students took part in a Leadership Day on Monday 19 September, followed by the Year 11 Retreat from Tuesday-Thursday. They have shown maturity, prayerfulness and enthusiasm, and I am confident that they are ready to take their place as the new leaders of our school when we return in Term 4.
Slow me down, Lord.
Ease the pounding of my heart
by the quieting of my mind.
Steady me with the vision of eternal reach of time.
Give me amidst the confusion of my days,
the calmness of the everlasting hills.
Help me to know the restoring power of sleep.
Slow me down to look at a flower,
to chat with a friend,
to read a few lines from a book.
Slow me down, Lord.
Slow me down.
With prayers of peace and hope,
Ms Barbara Watkins
Principal
