From the Principal’s Address, Year 12 Graduation 2019:
“Year 12, congratulations.
Remain forever attentive to the stirrings of your heart. Pursue your love of learning. And, as you begin this next phase of your life, may your heart be open to surprise, your eyes open to the beauty of Creation, your mind open to curious inquiry, your hands always open to serve those in need, and your feet always open to walk gently on this Earth, carving paths yet trodden and marking possibilities yet known.
Go confidently and boldly, my dear girls, knowing that you are enough.”
amid the noise and haste
and seek what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible be on good terms
with all people.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly and listen to others;
even the dull and ignorant,
they too have their story.
If you compare yourself with others you may become vain and bitter,
for there will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements
as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble:
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune,
but do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Beyond a wholesome discipline be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars.
You have a right to be here,
and whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive God to be.
And whatever your labours and aspirations
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace with your soul.
Strive to be happy.
