Primary School News

A cheerful mind, a good understanding and a great desire after virtue are necessary, but of all these a cheerful mind is the most so.

– Mary Ward 1609

There was excitement in the air as the Primary School welcomed returning students and our bright and shiny Year 5 girls to commence the second year of the re-opened Primary School. It is a joy to welcome the girls and their families to the Loreto Normanhurst community.

After the girls settled into their classrooms and beautiful learning spaces, Year 5 and 6 embarked on a ‘bear and cub’ bonding adventure. After collecting their ‘cub,’ Year 6 proudly took the girls a tour of the school. From all accounts, there was much joy, laughter and the beginnings of new friendships. Other highlights from this week included onboarding of the iPads and the Whole School Eucharist to begin the school year. As one student remarked, ‘I have had so much fun and made new friends. I can’t wait for next week.’

This year I am delighted to welcome Ms Trisha Allen to Loreto Normanhurst as our new Learning Enrichment teacher. Ms Allen comes to us with a wealth of experience and I am confident she will  add to the exceptional teaching team to provide the best possible learning outcomes for all of our students.

As many of you know the sense of community at Loreto is one of the many ingredients that make this such a great school. Mrs Caitlin Studdert is our Primary PAL Liaison. Please feel free to contact her with any questions related to PAL via mobile (0417 06 46 46) or email (

Thank you for your warm wishes as I recover from surgery. I am very much looking forward to returning to school on Monday.
