Primary School News
Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.
It was lovely to see so many parents at the Science Fair this week. The girls in Year 5 had been working very hard all term and were excited to showcase their learning in the integrated unit looking at animal survival in the modern era and the actions we can take to ensure the long term survival of many threatened species.
Rather than teaching subjects in isolation, the integration of Science, Geography, English and Maths allowed for meaningful engagement and a much deeper understanding of the theme of animal survival. The girls focused on major threats to animal survival and possible solutions, including animal adaptations in different habitats. The girls clearly relished passing on their knowledge to all who attended and no question went unanswered. Each group also created an infographic, incorporating the use of green screen technology as a backdrop to some of the best David Attenborough and news reporting performances. Thank you to parents for attending and to Miss Best and Mr Alagna for providing such an engaging learning experience.
