Primary School News
We all have the duty to do good.
The day has finally arrived! The girls have been working feverishly to ensure that their products are ready for our Kidpreneur Market Day. The stalls are bursting with products and the girls have been planning many ways to draw customers to their stalls. The teachers have been so impressed by the planning, organisation and team work displayed by the girls to reach the term long goal of a market day. The benefits of this program are far reaching and have taught the girls some valuable lessons that will hold them in good stead for life. The monies raised from the market day will go towards The House of Welcome, a not-for-profit organisation providing shelter and empowering people seeking asylum. Thank you to the students, staff, parents and the Loreto community for supporting this worthy cause.
Sharing the Love of Science
Last week in science, 5R visited the 6H students to see their Natural Disaster projects. I learnt that tsunamis can be caused by earthquakes and landslides. I enjoyed all of the projects, especially Indianna’s because she put great ideas into her silt solution. I could clearly see what was happening and it was very enjoyable to see the flour fly out everywhere which was symbolising carbon dioxide. I thought Gabby’s one was the most interactive because we could have a turn of making a tsunami and got to see what happened.
Alexis De Zotti
When we visited 6H I learnt that when two tectonic plates rub against each other it causes an earthquake. The one that I enjoyed the most was Amy’s tsunami model because Amy explained how she had created the model and the cause of many tsunamis around the world. Mia’s was the most interactive because Hannah and I actually got to shake the tectonic plates and make the house fall over. A great learning experience.
Exciting Sporting News
Breanna Harris from Year 6 recently represented CIS in the NSW PSSA Netball competition in Tamworth. Breanna’s team lost their first game against Sydney North by one goal and then managed to win all their remaining games. CIS finished second overall.
Due to her excellent play, Breanna has been selected in the NSW team to play at the Pacific School Games in Adelaide from 2 to 10 December. This is an outstanding achievement. Well done Breanna!
