Primary School News

We all have the duty to do good.

Pope Francis

Today Year 6 came together to celebrate the gift of leadership in a beautiful Liturgy. All girls were called to be part of the rich Loreto tradition and to lead by example in the way they live and speak and the choices they make. The girls were called to live out the values of Freedom, Justice, Felicity, Sincerity and Verity.

Year 6 made a promise to pledge their commitment and in particular how they will use their gifts to serve our community and lead the Primary School. The girls also wrote individual pledges which illustrated how carefully they had thought about this great responsibility. As one student said, “I pledge to be a responsible and honest leader. I will try my best to live out the Loreto values throughout my whole Loreto school life, I will serve our community and hold my head up high.”

Each girl then came forward to be anointed by Ms Ugonotti and the girls who had been elected to leadership roles were presented with their badges. We concluded the service with a prayer for our Year 6 leaders and a beautiful blessing sung by Sofia Palermo. Girls and parents then joined together in the Primary School to celebrate this important milestone with a morning tea.

Congratulations to Year 6 for their wonderful performance at the Senior School Assembly last week.  They performed a Chinese New Year song in celebration of the Year of the Pig. They are to be commended on their pronunciation and enthusiastic presentation. Thank you to Cao lao shi for preparing the girls so beautifully.

There is great anticipation as the girls have been preparing for our upcoming camp. Next week we will be venturing off to The Great Aussie Bush Camp. This will be an exciting week for Years 5 and 6, enjoying three fun-filled days of outdoor and team activities. It will be a wonderful opportunity for the girls to forge new friendships and build that sense of belonging and connection which is an integral part of the Loreto Normanhurst community.
