Primary School News
Friendship is a sheltering tree.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
There was excitement in the air as the Primary School welcomed returning students and our new Year 5 girls to commence the fifth year of the re-opened Primary School. The girls beamed as they found their lockers, their Year 6 buddies and their place in the Learning Common. It is a joy to welcome the girls and their families into the Loreto Normanhurst community.
As the girls settled into their classrooms and beautiful learning spaces there was much joy, laughter and the beginnings of new friendships. Other highlights from this week include onboarding of the iPads, House time and walking to the Senior School for specialist lessons in Art, Music, PE and back to the Primary School for Chinese. We visited the Chapel and started to learn about the history, values and traditions we have at Loreto. Today we started to learn the musical items that we will be performing at the Music Festival in March.
Charlotte and Mia from Year 5 summed up their experiences so far, stating:
” I loved seeing all the happy smiles and meeting all the friends I made on Orientation Day.”
“I loved the community and the environment and how everyone is so nice and friendly.”
As we settle into the rhythms and routines of the school year, much of the novelty (and nerves) of the first few days has dissipated into a general feeling of calm with students now ensconced in their new classes and engaged in their learning. It has been wonderful to observe how seamlessly our new students have transitioned and integrated into the community.
A reminder that our Parent Information evening is on next Wednesday 6 February from 7.00-8.00pm in the Primary School Learning Common. This is a must for all parents as it outlines the roadmap for the year.
