On a glorious winter’s day last term, the Athletics Carnival took place. It was a celebration of our girls’ willingness to have a go at a range of sporting events on both the track and field. All our girls showed enthusiasm and House spirit with rousing war cries and great teamwork. The 100-metre Invitational showcased the five fastest girls in the Primary School: Rachel Antony, Lola Rahme, Portia Rowland-Stefanic, Seren D’Souza and Tessa Young. After a very close race, Portia was crowned Queen of the Track. The House Cup and Spirit Cup and individual place-getters will be announced and presented with their ribbons when we return to face-to-face learning. Thank you to Mrs Wood, Mr Brock and the Sports Department, the House Leaders and the Primary School staff for helping make the day such a success. Thanks to parents for your support and attendance.
Public Speaking Competition
On Tuesday 15 June we were treated to a wonderful evening of outstanding entertainment. The Public Speaking Competition represented the culmination of a process of devising, refining and rehearsing speeches on topics that have captured the interest, imagination and passion of each of the girls. All of our Years 5 and 6 students are to be commended on participating in this process.
We had the pleasure of witnessing thought-provoking speeches on the themes of Time, Education, Memory and Inventions.
The judges had a very tough decision, but in the end Zara Traini was awarded 3rd place, Olive Ledwidge 2nd place and the winner was Amelia Moyes, who spoke to us about ‘Memory.’ Thank you to the Primary staff for attending the evening, to parents for their support and, of course, to the girls for showcasing their skill, inspiration and curiosity.
After a week of inspiring speeches, I am pleased to announce that the School Leaders for Semester 2 2021 are as follows:
|Benedicta House Leaders||
|Clare House Leaders||
|Dorothea House Leaders||
The girls will receive their badges at the Year 6 Leadership Liturgy when we return to face-to-face learning.
