Primary School

Primary School

Friendship is a sheltering tree.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge

There was excitement in the air as the Primary School welcomed our returning students and our brand new Year 5 girls to commence the school year. The girls quickly found their lockers, their Year 6 buddies and their place in the Learning Common. It is a joy to welcome the girls and their families into the Loreto Normanhurst community.

After the girls settled into their classrooms and beautiful learning spaces, there was much joy, laughter and the beginnings of new friendships.

Other highlights from this week included House time and walking to the Senior School for specialist lessons in Art, Music, PE and back to the Primary School for Chinese. We enjoyed a whole school Assembly and some ‘getting to know you’ time with buddies. Next week we will begin to learn the musical items that we will be performing at the end of term Music Festival, which is always a highlight of the year. The week ended with exciting House games, organised by our House Leaders.

Some of our students from Year 5 summed up their experiences so far:

‘I have already made some new friends.’ – Aavni Gandhi

‘I loved seeing my buddy again.’ – Stella Thomson

‘There are so many new activities to do.’ – Grace Solomon

‘I just love everything about Loreto.’ – Jhanvi Shah

‘I love that the classroom has so many different voices.’ – Tayla Miller

‘It was so nice to be in the company of so many other girls.’ – Grace Vukasovic

It has been wonderful to observe how seamlessly our new students have transitioned and integrated into the community.

Parent Information Evening

A reminder that our Parent Information Evening is on next Wednesday 3 February from 7.00-8.00pm.

Due to the latest guidelines released from AISNSW Health, we are able to host the Information Evening on site.

The Year 5 Information Evening will be held in the Primary School Learning Common and the Year 6 Information Evening will be held in the Mary Ward Centre, which is directly opposite the Primary School. We request that parents move straight to the respective locations so that our COVID-Safe plan is in place.

This evening is a must for all parents as it outlines the roadmap for the year ahead. A Zoom link will be made available if you are unable to attend this event.
