Co-Presidents’ Message

Another busy week at Loreto Normanhurst, but hopefully everyone has had the chance to get out and enjoy some of the magical weather we are having across NSW.

A few updates for your reading pleasure on events over the  last week:

Dads’ Weekend Away In Orange:  Thank-you to  Mal Foubister, PAL Treasurer

Well the dads’ weekend away in Orange has come and gone and a wonderful time was had by all!

Dinner on Friday night was the perfect  opportunity to meet some fellow Loreto dads and begin to form new friendships within the school community.

Saturday was spent  exploring the historic village of Millthorpe, wine tasting and enjoying some delicious food. Special thanks to the  volunteers at the Millthorpe Museum who ensured we were very well looked after. Saturday night was the final formal event for the weekend – our inaugural Loreto Dads White Ribbon Dinner. Our guest speaker, Mr Steve Semmens, captivated the group with his thoughts on domestic violence and empowering women in the community.

Throughout our weekend we raised a total of $770.00 which will be passed on to the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter and it was agreed that this theme would continue at future dads’ events.

Below are some of the comments received regarding the weekend;

“One of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time and can’t wait to do it again next year!”

 “A great bunch of blokes to spend some time with.”

 “Had a fantastic weekend and even got another nine holes in this morning. What a great bunch of guys, when’s the next one?”

Well done to Mal Foubister for organising this fantastic weekend and to Peter Heaton who first floated the idea with Mal and Paul White from the PAL team, back in 2016. By all accounts, a great success!

Friday 24 – Sunday 26 NOVEMBER

We will soon be sending a formal invitation for you to join us for  our Mothers’ Weekend Away in Orange  in November. We will be asking all mums who plan to attend to pay a $50.00 deposit to secure your place for the weekend. Keep your eye out for the email. Preliminary planning has begun and this year is shaping up to be a very special weekend, so make sure you don’t miss out.  Remember, this year we are organising our own accommodation. I have been advised that the weekend we have chosen might be a little busy in Orange, so I suggest you source and book accommodation early.
