Co-Presidents’ Message
By now the Loreto Normanhurst Fathers’ Weekend away will be well underway. We are sure all the dads will enjoy the wonderful itinerary that Mal Foubister (PAL Treasurer) has put together for the weekend. We look forward to an update from Mal in next week’s newsletter.
Loreto Normanhurst/Kirribilli Morning tea, Friday 12 may 2017:
Last Friday approximately 65 mothers and staff members from Loreto Normanhurst and Loreto Kirribilli came together for a very special combined morning tea. This annual event is a favourite on the social calendar for many mums and this year did not disappoint.
What a lovely morning it was! Level 3 of the Gonzaga Barry Centre was transformed into a high tea style venue, with elegant three-tiered displays of sweet treats on each of the linen-covered tables positioned throughout the room. These were complemented by beautiful platters of fresh fruit and savoury bite-sized appetisers arranged on a side buffet table, adorned with vases of roses and tulips to welcome all our guests. The morning tea sweet treats (including our own Loreto Normanhurst crested cupcakes) were provided courtesy of Mrs Louise Wytenburg and our savoury treats were provided courtesy of our Loreto Normanhurst mums attending on the day, so a big thank you to all!
Everyone settled in with a warming cup of tea or coffee to hear a few words of welcome from Ms Barbara Watkins prior to the address of our guest speaker for the event, Ms Cathy O’Connor, CEO of Nova Entertainment and current mum at Loreto Kirribilli.
Cathy shared with us her career story and her views on women in leadership positions. Cathy certainly gave us a first hand perspective, given she is currently the only female CEO within the Australian commercial radio industry. The address provided much food for thought around the need to change and adapt to the technological forces shaping our lives and work, and the role we all play in developing the next generation. If you get the chance, google Cathy and read about her induction into the Radio Hall of Fame showcasing her many career achievements. It was our pleasure to experience such an informative key address from a very impressive lady.

CITY/COUNTRY MOTHERS’ WEEKEND AWAY IN ORANGE

We will soon be sending out our formal invitation for you to join us for our Mothers’ Weekend Away in Orange in November. Preliminary planning has begun and this year is shaping up to be a very special weekend, so make sure you don’t miss out. Remember, this year we are organising our own accommodation. I have been advised that the weekend we have chosen might be a little busy in Orange, so I suggest you source and book accommodation early.
