What A Special Celebration
A wonderful time was had by all at the combined Information Sessions and 120 Year Celebration Cocktail Party held last Friday evening at the school. Many parents commented on how special it was to see in excess of 550 parents across Years 5 – 12 gathered together for a special evening of celebration. It was also a great opportunity to hear from Ms Barbara Watkins and various members of the school faculty and Leadership Team, who addressed each year group in the customised Information Sessions and to then share a drink with them in the informal setting of the cocktail party afterwards. On behalf of the Parent Community we would like to extend our thanks to the Development Team and the school Leadership Team for hosting this event for all parents and sharing very useful and current information for each year group.
Highlights – Parent Association of Loreto (PAL) General Meeting held this week
Thank you to everyone who was able to join the PAL Executive, Ms Barbara Watkins and Mrs Alicia Maunsell for our first General Parent Association Meeting for 2017. This meeting is only one hour in duration but provides such a lovely chance to hear updates on key events and activities at the school directly from Ms Watkins. This week we covered some interesting topics with Ms Watkins such as the sports review and recommendations, strategic plan, International Women’s Day activities within the school, the upcoming trip to Asia and the UK to connect with boarder families, ex-students, and other friends of the Loreto community.
Next term we will advertise our agenda and the updates which will be provided, so make a note of this date in your diary (it is also on the school calendar) and we look forward to seeing you there!
Open Day, Loreto Normanhurst
Saturday 11 march – 11am-3PM
‘All Are Welcome In This Special Place’ – this is the message we will convey as we welcome the general public into our school on Saturday as part of Open Day at Loreto Normanhurst. The Parent Association look forward to a fantastic day on the BBQ, Devonshire Tea and Cake stalls that we coordinate and we would like to thank everyone in advance for helping prepare for the day: baking cakes, serving on stalls (our volunteer rosters are full!!) and dropping daughters off for their various duties. What a wonderful team effort, it is truly appreciated.
Don’t forget to bake a cake for our fabulous Cake Stall which is a wonderful fundraiser for PAL. This year’s organisers, Kate Brown and Anna Boldiston, would appreciate all of your contributions and look forward to receiving them from 10.00am at the Cake Stall on Open Day, located next to the Curran Theatre. The final display is a sight to behold and truly a beautiful display of community at work!
Primary School Family Twilight Picnic
Saturday 25 March – 3:00pm
A very special event is scheduled to take place on Saturday 25 March 2017. Our Primary families gather on the lawns for a lovely picnic together. We can’t wait to receive an update post this event.
City / Country Mothers’ Lunch, boarders’ dining room
Wednesday 29 March 2017 – 11:30am
Check your inbox! Invites have been sent out so don’t miss this special event. Whether you are new to the school in 2017 or have been a parent for many years, this lunch will not disappoint. As we have mentioned before, there is something very special about walking through the Boarding Reception area on this day to attend the luncheon. As mums, grandmothers, aunts and friends arrive for the lunch there is always a story to be told and the laughter and friendly hospitality shown by our city and country mums alike is a very special part of our school.
So, don’t miss out! Come along and soak up the atmosphere in our beautiful Boarders’ Dining Room, a place where you feel the history and heritage that is the Boarding House of Loreto Normanhurst. If you do not know anyone else attending we will place you on a table with parents from your Year Group (this is what I did as a Year 7 mum and it was a lovely way to meet some mums from regional areas as well as mothers from Sydney). Please click here to book your seat!
