Parent Association of Loreto (PAL) General Meeting

On Wednesday 27 July, we held our Parent Association of Loreto (PAL) General Meeting for Term 3, always a great opportunity to hear firsthand from our School Leadership Team on key happenings in and around the school. Topics explored ranged from the building development works currently taking place around the school, the evolving strategic planning process and the part we will all continue to play in shaping the future of Loreto Normanhurst as well as an update on some of the exciting overseas study/excursion groups that have returned from experiences during the recent holiday period.  

Each time I have the opportunity to listen to the insights and perspectives provided by our School Leadership Team, I am reminded how lucky we are to have such strong leadership role models throughout the school for our girls to learn from. Their passion and commitment is always so evident and creates great excitement and optimism in terms of what the future will hold. 

We look forward to further updates through the School Newsletter and also at other events and forums such as the PAL General Meetings held once each term. Please note the dates provided in the school calendar in your diaries. This meeting is well worth the one hour time investment and we hope to see you there next term. 

 

What’s on in Term 3?

There are lots of exciting functions planned for Terms 3  and 4.  A quick overview;

 

Mission Dinner, reception room, Friday 19 August, 7pm 

Make sure you book tickets or organise a table for this great event. If you cannot make it on the night, you can always donate. This option is also provided via the Trybooking link (see below).  Other ways to provide support? Consider donating a small gift as a raffle item on the night (could be a bottle of wine, movie tickets, chocolates…lots of options here).  Alternatively, consider donating your time to help set up the venue during the afternoon of Friday 19 August. City/Country Mothers’ Weekend Away: Time To Lock In The Date & Venue!

We have a great organising team spanning many student year groups across the school and regions across NSW to help us organise the City/Country Mothers’ Weekend for 2016. We are therefore delighted to advise that our team have decided on the following date  and location, so get this in the diary NOW!

Date:  18 – 20 November 2016        Location:   Mudgee, NSW

We will send out a separate email invitation over the weekend so keep a look out for this as we will be asking for RSVP’s over the next two weeks to help us outline the logistics for the event – WE CAN’T WAIT!

Please be assured, all are welcome and this will be a great way to make new friends and catch up with those we already know….so dial a friend if needed and lock in the date…if you don’t know anyone and are a little unsure, please call Louise or I. We would love to spend the weekend with you and introduce you to those we already know, whilst also meeting many new mums together for the first time in a lovely setting.    

 

Not to forget the Dads……… 

We have a couple of lovely events coming up for our fathers and daughters;

  • Father/Daughter Dinner: Saturday 27 August 2016
  • Father /Daughter Eucharist: Sunday 28 August 2016

I am also pleased to advise that at our PAL Executive Meeting last night with so much animated discussion about the City/Country Mothers Weekend Away, the male members of our team are catching up to consider a similar concept for the dads perhaps in 2017. More to follow.

Finally we will start to plan for our Spring Fair 2017 in the next few months. Keep your eye out for emails announcing roles that are available that you might want to consider getting involved with. This is a terrific community event and will be extra special in 2017 as we celebrate 120 years of Loreto Normanhurst life. We look forward to your support and  involvement as always.

Louise and I will be part of the Year 9 Parent Group, farewelling our girls very early Sunday morning and then counting the days to the “Welcome Home Supper” noted below on Friday 12 August.
