Welcome back to Term 3!
Term 3 has seen several new students commence at Loreto. A big warm welcome to these new families and we look forward to meeting you face-to-face soon.
The current situation has presented many challenges to the ways in which we live and work and attend school. Thank you to Ms Ugonotti and the wonderful Loreto Normanhurst staff for the smooth transition to online learning. We are grateful for the strong leadership and guidance from the Loreto staff. Our thoughts and prayers are especially with our Year 12 students who are in their final term at Loreto and are preparing for the HSC trial examinations.
In these challenging times, it is important to communicate with each other as well as watch out for one another. Below are the names of the Year Parent Facebook pages if you would like to join and haven’t done so already. These pages are a way parents can communicate, assist and support one another.

PAL Meeting – Wednesday 21st July
Our PAL meeting will be held next Wednesday 21st July. This meeting will be held online via Zoom. This will be the normal general meeting that is held each term. At the conclusion of the general meeting, there will be a Special General Meeting of PAL to propose a change to the Parent Association of Loreto’s Constitution. The proposal is to move the current PAL financial year (November to October) to the calendar year, so that it is aligned with the school year.
If you would like to join the PAL General Meeting on Zoom, we ask that you register by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the meeting details.
125 Years Anniversary Cookbook Project
As part of the celebrations for the 125th Anniversary of Loreto Normanhurst, the Parent Association and Community Engagement Team, are launching the Loreto Normanhurst Cookbook Project.
The creation of this Cookbook will commence this term and will be published in Term 2, 2022. It requires assistance from members of our current parent, former parent and alumnae communities. We invite you to don your aprons or thinking caps, and put your name forward to fulfil one of the following volunteer roles:
• Project Leads
• Recipe Testing
• Food Stylists
• Graphic Design
Please complete the form below to express your interest in volunteering for the Loreto Normanhurst Cookbook Project. If you know of any friends of Loreto who would be able to volunteer, please extend the invitation. At times of celebration such as this, the more the merrier!
Should you have any further queries, please contact Jane Dalton, President of PAL at email@example.com.
Term Two Wrap Up
The LN Parent community was certainly busy and vibrant in Term 2. Thank you to all the Year Parent Reps and Sub Committees who were involved in organising these events. Importantly, thank you to everyone who attended and supported these events.
Normo Sportsmen’s Lunch – Friday 4th June
The Normo Sportsmen’s Lunch was held on 4 June at The Union Hotel North Sydney. Thank you to Preston Foster, Paul Timmins, and Charlie Pidcock for their hard work and the organisation they put into this event. Thank you to the Community Engagement Team for their support with this inaugural event. The lunch featured speakers John Langford (Father of Grace ’20 and Olivia, Year 8), Simon Gillies (Father of Grace, Year 12) and alumna Tessa Regan (’04). We are thrilled that just over $20,000 was raised for the Loreto Normanhurst Welfare (Bursary) Fund.
Thank you to Mark and Michele Rawson, Dom Vaughan and Tom Mazzei for their prize donations. The Fathers and Friends Sportsmen’s Lunch will be back bigger and better in 2022. If you would like to be involved with the event in 2022, please contact Preston Foster at firstname.lastname@example.org
Term 3 Update
Term 3 is not off to the start we had been anticipating. We hope to reschedule the events that we have had to postpone due to the recent COVID-19 restrictions. The School and PAL will keep you updated on the events as we continue to monitor the situation and public health advice.
Term 3 Event Updates
- Sunday 18th July – Year 12 Mother Daughter Lunch – postponed
- Wednesday 21st July – PAL General Meeting & Special Meeting via Zoom. Please email email@example.com for the Zoom link so that we can maintain a register for the meeting.
- Saturday 31st July – Year 6 Parent Dinner – postponed
- Friday 6th August – Year 8 Parent Dinner – postponed
We remain optimistic that some of our events may be held later in the year. It would be lovely for parents to have the opportunity to come together as we are mindful that many families are doing it tough, facing hardship and challenges in the uncertainty of these times. If you know of a member of our Loreto community who may need assistance or support, please do not hesitate to contact PAL or any of our committee members.
We wish you and your family good health.
