Parent Association

Welcome back! We hope you all had a peaceful Easter and are feeling refreshed and ready for Term 2.

We have many socials and events planned for this term and  it’s wonderful to end our first week back with our Mother Daughter Eucharist this Sunday. Refreshments will be served by our dads afterwards and we hope to see many of you there. A reminder that students are required to wear full winter school uniform.

Angela Quinn, our PAL committee member, shares some highlights of the mothers’ lunch on the last day of Term 1  – which was a great success.

“More than one hundred mothers gathered in the Boarders’ Dining Room for the annual City/Country Mothers’ Lunch. Whilst our girls were off enjoying a day of Music Festival rehearsals at the ICC, mothers from all over Sydney  and beyond sat down together to catch up over a delicious meal, with lots of conversation and many laughs. Our theme of “Water” was suggested by boarding mum Sharon Hanigan and this was warmly embraced by all, who contributed dozens of amazing photographs from both city and country  – dams, lakes, rivers, beaches, dust storms, clouds and rain. Suzie Sherwood did an amazing job by transforming the dining room into an elegant water-themed lunch space, incorporating the photographs with eucalyptus leaves and the names of towns and suburbs that Loreto families came from.

A highlight was hearing from our two speakers, Andrea Mitchell and Sarah Ciesiolka, who shared their experiences of life on the land and what “water” means in their lives. The strength, humour and truth of their reflections was powerful and we thank Sarah and Andrea for their generosity in speaking at this lunch. Our country families went above and beyond in their donations of produce from their properties and towns. A huge number of raffle tickets were sold and many mothers went home with extravagant baskets and hampers brimming with produce and luxuries. We owe a massive thanks to all involved and the country mothers who gave so generously. We look forward to next year!”

Back to Term 2 – Our Fathers’ Weekend away on Friday May 24th – Sunday May 26th will be in Mudgee this year! The Trybooking website link will be shared with you next week, together with venues to arrange your accommodation. A full weekend is planned from the Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon and details of what you can enjoy will also be shared in next week’s invitation. A $50.00 deposit will secure your place via the Trybooking website link.  If you’d like to join the organising team please drop an email to PAL   with the subject  ‘Fathers’ Weekend Away’.

Our major event for this term is the annual Trivia Night on Saturday 22 June. The invitation will be sent in the next few weeks with a Trybooking website link to secure your seat. You can make tables of 10 or book just for yourself and we’ll coordinate a table for you with your year group. Its always a fun night with great prizes to be won. To join the organising team please  drop an email to PAL  with the subject ‘Trivia Night’.

Spring Fair planning is now under way and whilst the major items, such as rides, tents, marquees, stage, and more, have all been booked in, it would not be the same without our parents’ involvement. We have our team leaders and now we would like to open up for team members to join in. You can come as a group of parents or individuals, offer to run a stall entirely with friends or be part of a team that runs it – it’s up to you. To join the organising team please drop an email to PAL  with the subject ‘Spring Fair’.

See below for more details about events this term. We will continue to enjoy more gatherings together with  friendship building, fundraising and being a Loreto parent!
