‘Our Time is Now’ – Annual Giving 2021

In the coming weeks, you will receive communications seeking your support of this year’s Annual Giving Campaign – Our Time is Now. The collective impacts of bushfires, floods, drought and mice plagues on our rural families, and the universal impact of COVID-19 have put financial and emotional pressure on many families. Right now, we have 19 families accessing a bursary program  which has only been made possible through the generous donations of our community and we sincerely thank everyone who has already contributed this year.

At Loreto Normanhurst, we are fortunate to draw from a proud history of advocating for women’s rights and supporting those most in need. Four hundred years ago, Mary Ward’s sense of the urgency of providing a broadly and readily available holistic education to all girls earned her the label of ‘dangerous innovator.’  Today we embrace that label, knowing that when women actively participate in every type of industry and governance, our communities are safer, healthier and more successful. We approach the education of young women with the same knowledge that we are doing important work, and that the ‘time’ for this work is now.

Since 2001, our School has supported 52 students in necessitous circumstances with our bursary program. We are honoured and privileged to be able to share two of these stories as part of this appeal and ask that you look out for communications featuring these stories and our request for help as we live out Mary Ward’s legacy by investing in the future of our young women.
