This has been an outstanding term for Oratory.
- CSDA Teams for incredible success in 2017. The following teams made it through to Elimination Rounds: 7b, 9a, 9b, 10a, 10b, 12b.
- Archdale Teams for a significant improvement in results in this year’s competitions.
- Special mention to the Mock Trial team who have been undefeated in their rounds. A wonderful effort against some challenging teams.
Good luck to the following students participating in the CSDA quarter finals at St Patrick’s Marist College, Dundas tonight.
12B – Niamh Condon, Grace Reid, Olivia Bell
8b – Amy McFadden, Lucy Findlay, Lydia Thomas, Julia Reuben
7b – Olivia Alexander, Ella McKenzie, Michelle Hoffman.
Last Wednesday debating at St Ignatius Riverview we came a close second to Riverview – a fantastic effort all round.
Australian Disputes Resolution Centre
A new initiative has been offered to our Year 10 students from the Australian Disputes Resolution Centre. We still have a couple of more spots available for interested students.
Topic for Discussion
The Archdale topic last week from the intermediate division was: ‘Australian students should be forced to learn an indigenous language’. This was a great topic to begin the discussion around NAIDOC week and language. Our students’ experience in Far North Queensland really cemented their arguments this week and proposed some interesting ideas around respect, stories and communication.
