Congratulations to Gian Ellis-Gannell, Year 11, who attended the NSW Constitutional Convention at NSW Parliament House this week. Gian submitted a response to the posed question ‘What is the most important Constitutional issue facing Australian’s in 2019’. In her response, Gian discussed the ambiguity of Section 44 in modern multicultural Australia. Organisers selected Gian to attend the Convention with a number of students from across NSW; with the focus of the day being to discuss these very issues. At the conclusion of the event, Gian was voted by her peers to be a NSW representative at the Australian Constitutional Convention to held in March, 2020 in Canberra. Congratulations Gian. A very well deserved result. You can read Gian’s submission here.

Congratulations to Year 11 students Samantha Parsons  and Maanya Maini who this week participated in the Lions Youth of the Year, Berowra Club final. Both students were interviewed by a panel of judges where they faced questions regarding their in school and out of school achievements. This was then followed by a dinner which included both students presenting a prepared speech and two impromptus. The impromptus were:

  • Tell us how you feel social networking is impacting on society.
  • What do you see as the two major issues facing people today?

Both girls are to be commended for participating in this event.
