Festival of Speech

Congratulations to all students who participated in this year’s Festival of Speech, held at Meriden Strathfield. It was great to share such joy in the spoken word with all of the other AHIGS schools. The Loreto Normanhurst students were stand outs in all sections this year, but particular mention must go the Religion and Ethics team, who placed 3rd. Congratulations to the following team members:

Olivia Carrozzi (Year 11)

Samantha Parsons (Year 11)

Gian Ellis-Gannell (Year 11)

Coach: Dr Monica Cunneen and Clara Marsh

Thank you to all of the students for preparing so diligently and to their coaches.

Kirby Cup

On Tuesday 29 October, two teams of Year 11 students, participated in the University of Western Sydney’s Mooting Competition, Kirby Cup. Both teams participated in two rounds and were selected to move through to the quarter finals. Both teams then won their respective Quarter Finals however, based on points, Team A moved through to the Semi Finals against PLC Sydney. Unfortunately, they lost by only a few points; however, in making it to the Semi Finals, Team A were awarded Conditional Entry into an Undergraduate Law Degree at Western Sydney University. Congratulations to both teams on their results. Mooting is not easy and as expressed by the Magistrates on the day, the standard to which you preformed, was beyond your years.

Congratulations to the following Year 11 students:
