Festival of Speech
The AHIGS Festival of Speech will be held this year on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 October at Brigidine College St Ives. This is the pinnacle event of the oratory year. Preparations are underway and we look forward to some great results. A program of events will be distributed via next week’s newsletter and we would love to see a big Loreto contingent in the audience.
We are currently seeking volunteers who would like to be a part of our winning Kirby Cup team. Kirby Cup is a mooting competition, run by Western Sydney University, Faculty of Law, and our team is working tirelessly to prepare. If you have legal experience and able to share your expertise, we would love to have you on board. Any help would be appreciated – be it a coach for the team, or simply providing some points for preparing submissions for both the respondent and appellant, or even pointers on how to participate in a mooting competition.

Friendly debates against The King’s School
The King’s School have invited Loreto Normanhurst to attend a friendly two rounds of debating on Friday 2 and Friday 9 November. We are looking for two teams per year group. Students who have participated in either Archdale or CSDA debating have been extended an invitation to participate already. This is a great opportunity to brush up on your debating skills in a friendly environment. Students are encouraged to make contact with the Oratory Department if they are interested.
