To the CSDA teams who participated in Round 4 against Riverview last week. An outstanding effort with 10 from 12 debates won by Loreto Normanhurst. Round 5 tonight will be at home, with St Pius X College joining us for this week’s debates. We are aiming for a 6:00pm coin toss and we would love to see as many supporters as possible.
To the Archdale teams who competed against Danebank Anglican College this week in Round 2 of the Archdale Competition. This week 6 from 7 teams were awarded wins in their debates. An incredible result for both students and coaches. For Round 3 we will be competing at home against Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College. We look forward to hosting our first round of Archdale. Please note that this means students in Years 7 and 8 will be finished by 6:30pm and senior students by 7:45pm.
To the Primary Students who this week presented their prepared speeches in class. The Year 10 mentors have really enjoyed working with the primary students. Next week we begin with an ‘Introduction to Debating’ that will again be run by the Year 10 mentors, in preparation for the IGSSA Debating Day.
Academy of Speakers
Academy of Speakers has extended an invitation to students in Years 7 and 8 to participate in their ‘Confidence through Public Speaking Program’. The two-day event will be held at Normanhurst Boys on the 14th and 15th of July. It is run by Kamal Sarma, a TedX speaker and international best-selling author. We have been given seven enrolments at a 50% discount. These places will go to the first seven students who confirm their attendance to email@example.com and pay in full via this link.
The course information can be viewed here. It looks like an exciting course that will allow students to hone their public speaking skills.
Academy of Speakers also has a program for Years 5 and 6 students and they are offering a 10% discount. Again this program looks to be a great opportunity for our students to gain skills and confidence in public speaking. The Primary Program can be found here. For the discount code, please contact the Oratory Coordinator.
Archdale Students – ROUND – 4 CHANGE TO venue and permissions
Due to the Athletics Carnival, Round 4 will now be hosted at Loreto Normanhurst rather than SCEGGS Darlinghurst. Please make a note in your diaries of this change to the schedule. Students will need to bring their full school uniform and leave in their lockers for the day. They will change uniforms upon returning to the school in the afternoon.
