Introducing Ms Michelle Albert, Dean of Learning
The Learning Office is excited to welcome Ms Michelle Albert to the role of Dean of Learning, replacing Mrs Carolina Murdoch. Ms Albert has been Head of Aston House for the past eight years, and whilst it was hard for her to make the decision to move away from her beloved Aston House, we welcome her to the Dean of Learning role – a role that will ensure she is able to support and guide all Loreto students with their growth and learning.
As always, if students or parents need to discuss any issues with their learning we advise that they first seek the support from their advisor/tutor or Head of House, and then contact the Learning Office at learning@loretonh.nsw.edu.au should more specific advice be needed. We wish Ms Albert all the best with her new role.

Enhancing Study Skills
This term, two of our Year 9 boarders Ciara Karkkainen and Charlotte Cluff, worked together to produce some brilliant science study notes in the form of posters. They shared these posters and studied collaboratively. What great generosity of spirit, sharing these with others.
Dr Prue Salter, Director of Enhanced Learning Educational Services (ELES) recently held a study skills workshop. The girls’ posters were forwarded to Dr Salter and her feedback was very positive in the way the girls used diagrams, tables and colours.
Suggestions were to cover and uncover parts of the page with a blank piece of paper so they could test themselves on the content or get a blank piece of paper and see what they could recreate from memory.
Thrilled with the work of our two boarders, the posters have been uploaded to the Enhanced Learning website for other students to refer to.
If you would like to see Ciara and Charlotte’s work, go to the Enhanced Learning Website enter username: loretonh and password: loretonh then click on “POSTER NOTES” in section Number 5 .
In addition I have attached the posters below:

Year 11 2019 Subject Selection Process – update
On Monday 21 May, Year 10 parents received an email from the Learning Office regarding the Subject Selection Process. This process comprises three steps and will be implemented throughout this term.
- Morrisby Online Career and Aptitude Assessment Program – completed
- Subject Selection Evening Wednesday 6 June from 7pm–8.30pm – GBC
- Subject Selection Plenary Meeting
Subject Selection Evening
Wednesday 6 June
7pm – 8.30pm
GBC 3.01 to 3.04
The evening commences with a presentation about the HSC, which provides an overview of the core subject areas of English, Mathematics, Religion and Science. Parents and students are then invited to speak to representatives of other subject areas of their choice in the Deirdre Rofe Centre. If you are unable to attend, a PODCAST will be available in the school newsletter after the event.
For your convenience, the Safe on Social Media presentation by Kirra Pendergast has also been scheduled on Wednesday 6 June from 6pm-7pm in the school gymnasium. The oval will be open for parking (weather permitting).
Subject Selection Plenary Meeting
In the final step of the subject selection process, we are asking parents to attend a plenary meeting with their daughter and a member of the Learning Team. This meeting will be an opportunity for parents to ask relevant questions about subjects, and for us to provide valuable advice on teacher feedback and the results from the Morrisby Assessment Program. This meeting will be approximately twenty minutes. These appointments will be available at a range of times and will be made via the PTO booking system. The link to make appointments will be emailed to you on Wednesday 6 June 2018.
Please contact the Learning Office if you have any further questions.
