Years 7-11 Academic Plenary Meeting Evenings
PTO Booking System Now Open
Academic Plenaries are a valuable opportunity for students, supported by teachers, to share their learning progress with their parents. It is the school’s expectation that all families attend so they can meet their daughter’s teachers and receive valuable feedback. Teachers will be available for five minute meetings on:
- Friday 11 May – 1.00pm to 6.30pm held in the Level 3 of the GBC, DRC and LRC
- Monday 14 May – 3:30pm to 6.30pm held in the School Gymnasium
- Tuesday 22 May – 3.30pm to 6.30pm held in the School Gymnasium
Reservations for the Plenary meetings are made via the PTO Booking System which can be accessed either via the internet online or the free PTO APP (instructions below). The PTO website is now open and will remain open until 10pm on the evening prior to each Plenary. On the day of the Plenaries changes or cancellations will need to be advised by email to the Learning Office. If for some reason you are unable to attend you will need to contact your daughter’s Head of House. Alternative times outside this opportunity cannot be accommodated unless there are extenuating circumstances.
To make your bookings online:
- Go to the PTO Login page
- The PTO booking site will be launched. Tick OBTAIN PIN/PASSWORD and enter the email address that you have provided to the school as your contact email (the address at which you received this information). Your individual PIN will be emailed to you.
- Full instructions for making your bookings will appear on your screen.
- Check the times booked and either print the booking schedule or download the PTO App to refer to on the evening.
On PTO App:
- Download App
- Select Region Australia
- Add School Code 3z95a
- Follow prompts
When making your bookings, please leave adequate time to move between appointments – 5 to 10 minutes is suggested. Teachers will endeavour to meet the appointment time, but there are always inevitable delays. We ask for your patience during the evening. Some teachers may have requested an interview with you in which case the symbol will be displayed alongside the class name.
Parking will be available on the oval (weather permitting), any carpark on school grounds or in Mt Pleasant Avenue. Please do not park on Osborn Road.
Prior to attending your meetings, please collect your name label from Mrs Rachael Jarick at the check-in Reception desk located at each venue. Tea, coffee and water will be available. In-line with our sustainability focus, it would be appreciated if you could please bring your own reusable cup such as a Keep Cup and/or a refillable drink bottle.
Please email Mrs Rachael Jarick if you have any questions or if you find you are unable to attend an appointment on the afternoon of the Plenaries.
Year 11 Study Skills Session
This week Dr Prue Salter from Enhanced Learning Educational Services conducted a study skills session with Year 11. The session focused on helping students identify positive changes they could make to their studies to maximise their results and achieve their learning goals in their senior years. The main areas of focus were:
- Moving into a senior mindset.
- Working effectively at home and managing distractions.
- The importance of independent learning.
- Managing workload and planning for assessments.
- Organising resources for school, both paper and digital.
- Steps to effectively study for assessments.
- Increasing the range of study techniques used.
- Making study notes brain-friendly.
Parents are encouraged to review the handout from the session with students and discuss the main areas identified where changes need to be made. Parents can also find extra study skills tips here.
All secondary students and parents also have access to a great study skills website to help students develop their skills. Enter the username: loretonh and the password: loretonh. There are lots of useful handouts on the ‘Things to print’ page on this site and students can work through the units where they need additional help.
