Newsletter Subject Selections Years 9, 10 and 11, 2017

The students of Years 8-10 have started the process of discernment over their subject selections for 2017. We have encouraged your daughters to discuss their choice of elective subjects with you as part of this process of decision making.

For Parents of Year 8 students

Year 9 2017   are required to make selections for their three electives.  They have listened to presentations by the Heads of Department and have access to the elective Subject Selection Handbook on the Canvas learning page, this information will also be emailed to parents. We have encouraged your daughters to choose subjects that they enjoy and are interested in. It is important to note that your daughters’ year 9 choices do not limit your daughters’ choice of subject selection in Years 11 and 12 other than in Music and LOTE ( see the Year 9 2017 Elective Subject Selection handbook for details)

For Parents of Year 9 Students

Year 10 2017 will discontinue one of their electives in Year 10. This will result in them studying two electives in 2017.  If students are currently studying Elective History or Geography these subjects will be discontinued and they will not need to make a decision. All students in Year 10 complete the Mandatory History and Geography courses. If students are not doing History or Geography they are required to select one of their three electives to discontinue in 2017. Our expectation is that students will continue to work equally on all three electives subjects throughout the rest of 2016, regardless of the choice to discontinue.  The discontinued subject will be included in your daughter’s RoSA (Record of School Achievement) as a 100 hour course, and she will receive a grade based upon her achievement in Year 9.

For Parents of Year 10 Students

Year 11 2017 students continue down the path of subject selection for 2017 and now have access to the online subject selection submission module.
