Congratulations to our students who completed their HSC examinations this week. The final examination was Drama which took place on Wednesday. I would like to congratulate all students who conducted themselves calmly and maturely throughout the examination process. Marking is now well underway and we wish our students well over the coming weeks as they await their results.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind students to come to the Principal’s HSC Morning Tea on Friday 18 December from 10:00am in the Mary Ward Quad. Celebrations of Learning – Diverse Learning
Jigsaw is a social enterprise that trains and transitions people into award wage employment and offers supported training and work experience. Two of our students, Mia Doggett, Year 11, and Claudia Stratton, Year 10, have been given an opportunity to join one of their work experience programs, Avenue, for Term 4 this year. Mia and Claudia will travel weekly to Allambie Heights and assist in one of the Learning Hubs, Animal Care.
Other Hubs include the Entrepreneur, Marketing, Sale Hub and more. Each Hub has a team leader who encourages and empowers participants to engage in meaningful and supported work. On arrival students are given online tasks to complete including modules on related business skills.
Mia and Claudia are working on developing their social skills and learning how to work as a team. The Avenue Program is also about building a connection to the community, and having “hands-on” skills in caring for animals. The team have a series of pet care tasks booked in each week, whether they are caring for a pet in the office, visiting someone’s home or taking a dog to the park. Other group activities may include researching animal care and going on supported trips to shelters and information centres.

Year 10 Food Technology
The Year 10 Food Technology students are preparing for the season of Advent. This is an exciting time in our calendar where we prepare and make food products for Christmas. The Year 10 students are advancing their preparation and presentation skills such as creaming, beating and mixing. They use creative techniques to decorate their final product.
