HSC Showcase 2019

Congratulations to our Year 12 Aboriginal Studies, Design and Technology, Drama, Extension English 2, Extension History, Extension Science, Music 1 and 2, Music Extension and Visual Arts students for their outstanding contributions to our HSC showcase last Friday evening.

We were incredibly proud of our Year 12 students for being brave enough to share their creativity and talents through the multitude of exhibits and performances on the evening.  Our guests were in awe of the talent on display and the depth of creativity and intellect evident in the concepts explored.  It can be easy at such events to think that the major works appear magically on the evening – as the beauty of the final product often belies the determination and effort that has been harnessed during the creative process.  We want to acknowledge the students’ efforts and perseverance throughout this process and the support crew of teachers, parents and other staff members who have been rallying on the sidelines!

There are many people who must be thanked for making the HSC Showcase 2019 such a success.  Thank you in particular Ms Marina Ugonotti and Ms Sophie Kearns for your support of the creative arts and learning in general at Loreto Normanhurst.  To the Heads of Department and teachers in the above mentioned faculties – without your creativity, guidance and leadership this event would not have come to life; we know that students and parents alike are grateful for the many hours you have spent guiding these projects.  Thank you to the Support and Operations staff who made the event possible as they worked tirelessly behind the scenes.  Also, thanks to our Hospitality teachers and students who provided the canapes and service on the evening.  Finally, thank you to Ms Jane de Teliga, past Loreto student (Class of 1967),  fashion writer, editor, stylist and curator, for being our special guest on the evening and sharing her passion and awe for the creative arts.

On that note we wish you well Year 12.  Your creative output in these subject areas has offered inspiration.  We know that you will carry these experiences with you for years to come and look forward to hearing about your creative and intellectual pursuits in the future.
