NAPLAN 2019 Years 7 and 9 – Tuesday 14 May – Monday 20 May
As referenced in previous newsletter messages, NAPLAN assessments for Years 5, 7 and 9 will take place in Weeks 3-4 of this term on Tuesday 14 May – Monday 20 May 2019.
Students are well prepared for NAPLAN, as the work that they complete across all of the subject areas is ample preparation for these assessments and there is no need for students to undertake additional study. Students have engaged in practice online tests to familiarise themselves with the testing platform, worked on related tasks in English and Mathematics and have been spoken to about the assessments. Our key message is that these tests are diagnostic in nature, providing each student and her teachers with a snapshot on where she sits on the learning continuum for Literacy and Numeracy and provides feedback on where students might need to improve. It is appreciated if parents could reinforce this message with their daughter in conversations at home.
Students in Years 7 and 9 will need to ensure they are equipped with the following:
- Laptop fully charged
- Headphones or ear buds
- A pen, as working out paper will be available
The Locked Down Browser should still be installed from the practice test preparations. Please support us in helping your daughter to be organised with these items on the day of the assessments. We have planned for catch up testing, so if for some reason your daughter is unwell of the day of a NAPLAN test and is unable to attend school please contact the Learning Office on 9473 7336 before 8.30am. We thank you for your support in assisting us to ensure your daughter is prepared on each day of the assessments.

Year 7-11 Academic Plenary Meeting Evenings
Academic Plenaries are opportunities for students, supported by teachers, to share their learning progress with their parents and receive valuable feedback. Teachers will be available for 5 minute meetings on:
- Monday 13 May – 3:30pm to 6.30pm in the School Gymnasium
- Tuesday 21 May – 3.30pm to 6.30pm in the School Gymnasium
Reservations for the plenary meetings are made online through the PTO website or the free PTO app (instructions below). The PTO website is now open and will remain available for access until 10pm on the evening prior to each plenary. After this, any changes or cancellations will need to be advised by email to the Learning Office. All parents are encouraged to attend and if there are circumstances which prevent you from attending, please contact your daughter’s Head of House. Alternative times outside of this opportunity cannot be accommodated unless there are extenuating circumstances. If your daughter is involved in either CSDA or Archdale Debating which coincides with the plenary dates, please see additional booking instructions
Parking will be available on the oval (weather permitting), any carpark on school grounds or in Mt Pleasant Avenue. Prior to attending your meetings, please register with Mrs Rachael Jarick at the Reception desk located at each venue.
Please email Mrs Rachael Jarick if you have any questions or if you are unable to attend an appointment on the afternoon of the plenaries.
Please leave adequate time to move between appointments – 5 to 10 minutes is suggested. Teachers will endeavour to meet the appointment time, but there are always inevitable delays. We ask for your patience during the plenaries. Some teachers may have requested an interview with you in which case the symbol will be displayed alongside the class name.
TO MAKE YOUR BOOKINGS ONLINE:
- Go to the PTO Login page
- The PTO booking site will be launched. Tick OBTAIN PIN/PASSWORD and enter the email address that you have provided to the school as your contact email (the address at which you received this information). Your individual PIN will be emailed to you.
- Full instructions for making your bookings will appear on your screen.
- Check the times booked and either print the booking schedule or download the PTO App to refer to on the event.
