‘Thank you’ from Community Engagement team

‘Thank you’ from Community Engagement team

We were overwhelmed with the generosity of our community supporting the Bursary Fund this year. You heeded our call “the Time is Now” and together with the funds from the Mother Daughter Lunch and Raffle, Normo Sportsmen’s Lunch, Mother Daughter Eucharist and Women of Influence Evening, we have raised over $130,000 for the Bursary Program.

‘Thank you’ doesn’t begin to express how grateful we are. We have a strong history of supporting families in need in sending their daughters to Loreto Normanhurst – with 54 girls financially supported over the years, and still counting!

Your generosity, whether through a donation, attending one of our events or simply taking the time to call and ask what you can do to help, is so deeply appreciated. We know that many of you work and support your own daughter’s education so we are humbled and grateful that you have made the extra effort to give to other people’s daughters.

One of our past bursary recipients, Tessa Regan (’04) gave a speech at the Father’s Sportsmen’s Lunch and we share an excerpt here:

If I had to put into words what the bursary meant to me it would be this…

  • It gave me the chance to finish those crucial years at school and reach personal achievements that I would not have strived for had I stayed at my local high school.
  • It instilled in me values to guide me through hard times and work towards a better me.
  • I’m now a part of a global alumni, mixing with like-minded, independent, strong, and driven women, willing to take on challenges, fail, learn and lead.
  • I’m now bonded to the best group of friends anyone could ask for.

And above all, [the Bursary program] changed the trajectory of my life. The bursary isn’t just an education…it’s a lifeline to opportunity that wouldn’t have been available otherwise.

So today, as I look at everyone here, I’m imagining your faces to be those of the dads who so generously gave the money that made my time at Loreto possible back in 2003 and 2004. I never got to say thank you to them, so today I say thank you to you…from the bottom of my heart.
